No, this research was based on a study by Dr Michael Seto 2008. I do remember it being challenged at the time.
So many variables were taken into account and it has since been updated and revised down to 1%.
I found an interesting article regarding the update and well worth a read.

men were asked whether they had ever had sexual thoughts or fantasies about children or engaged in sexual activity with children.

it is the variables that stop any of these studies being meaningful. as the text says, there are pedophiles in portugal - i would leave it at that. trying to count them... certainly trying to count the number per sq km!... laughable. certainly not based on asking a person about 'thoughts or fantasies'.

i could ask 200 people whether they had ever had thoughts of strangling their cat, doesn't mean all of the people that say 'yes' are pet murderers.

But we know her daughter might have been born on Nov. 1 (party's day). If she was already born in 2003 (Mathias brought her to Algarve), maybe she was born in 2002 or before. On Nov. 1, 2002 she was 25.

Question though: would it have been possible back in 2007 to buy a SIM card FOR Portugal but not be IN Portugal at the time of the purchase? Eg: could you have bought a SIM card for it online and had it shipped to wherever you were? I seem to remember we did this when we had to travel abroad... I just got a local SIM card to use when I was over in the other place, but they mailed it to my home before we left. Don't ask me what year that was in though... I'd guess 2008 but don't quote me!

Or, could someone have bought it in Portugal then given it to someone in Germany? Just a thought...

That's perfectly possible, but I doubt a Portuguese SIM could be activated first hand in Germany. I think it should be first used in Portugal.

Makes you wonder what will come out next, that robbery, other robberies, and break ins, where there are young children, and reported rapes/assaults Nothing is investigated properly, but at least they were reported, I think they should go through every crime in PDL, from 2005 onwards, see what else they dig up, unless that's exactly what they are doing now

There are only 7 entries on the MySpace profile, 6 of which have been deleted. It's likely they were all posted between 2006 & 2010 when MySpace was at its most popular in Europe.

That doesn't mean that the original user who bought this sim was the one who called.
We also don't know where the caller was. They could have been in Portugal and also abroad.
But I never saw it established anywhere that they actually were abroad.

I'm afraid all PJ knows is that call didn't originate in PDL as it wasn't considered suspect at the time.

This is maybe because of rumors at the time. I remember in 2007 there was a young lady on TV saying SM liked young girls. but late teenage girls, not girls like MM and he was young, in early 20, their age was close to his age. I don't think this is can be classified as a pedophile.
