I respectfully disagree, my impression is she is doing the exact same thing she was doing then, reporting sensationalistic information with absolutely no evidence, just local gossip. The woman should be banned from the job.

I'm all for her reporting local gossip if:
- it puts pressure on people to investigate anything and everything further
- it helps solve this (or any case)

Providing that:
- it doesn't mess up the investigation somehow

Who is the EX British Detective who lived in Foral and is helping LE with inquiries?
I wonder who his wife is?

I think it's a retired she-detective.

Hate to even say this but she would not be the first childminder or creche worker to take photos or vids of kids for Pedos, sadly seen a few cases of this :(

But she advertised babysitting hyperactive children...

Yes, I agree that people who have "paedophilic tendencies" is more prevalent than we would like to admit, but that's not to say that all of them are paedophiles (in the diagnostic term) and even many them would find the abduction and murder of a child abhorrent.
I'm not justifying paedophilia but just saying that the area is very nuanced and cannot be measured by such blunt tools.
lets agree to disagree. im going by the recognised data and have already discounted it by 500% to account for your scepticism and it still suggests a decent amount of people.

there are several recent busts that have involved tens of thousands of paedos.

But I can't understand why they didn't pay him. Maybe he could provide valuable info before dying and MM's fund had enough money.

B/c if they had paid him, they'd have had every pedophile in the world claiming they had information to provide, but only if they received payment. There'd be no way to know for sure who was lying and who was telling the truth, thus it would only serve to further complicate the investigation.

Can you point me in the direction of the link saying ex British Detective is helping LE with their enquiries please? I do remember about the reading about him living next door in floral.

I understand your POV but that guy wasn't any ped in the world. He was the one near PDL highly suspicious who lots of people trusted he could have the key. I would have paid if she was my daughter.

I agree with Arnie

This is like eastenders

yes I think he was a man, I think he liked tea with two sugars and so did CB

just a lot of confusing fact stating and terrible speculation

nothing you are talking about would lead to a conviction

If I was some of the people being referred to I would be seeking compensation for slander and deformation of character

What is meant by deformation of character? Do you mean: "defamation"? If so, I'm not sure it would be applicable here as we're discussing things reported in the media. I don't even think he'd have a case for slander or libel unless the things being said about him are untrue and can be proven as untrue. I think that would be sensational though if he tried to have a case brought against LE or the media for things they've said and published about him as it would sure be interesting to see lawyers question them about their statements!!

I'm not skeptical about your claims but I not partial to accepting claims based on studies or surveys that I've never seen or have not seen peer reviewed papers on that's all.
All I'm saying is that there is a distinction between paedophilies and those who have paedophilic tendencies, there are many people who have tendencies who never act on their sexual urges and wondered whether these types are included in your numbers?

I think he means having some kind of deformed character, a character that's a little misshapen.:D;)

Well done was just seeing how knowledgeable you detectives are

I studied law for 4 years

Mattyg, do you think disastrous Chris Diesel is innocent of MM's disappearance beyond any reasonable doubt?

That's perfectly possible, but I doubt a Portuguese SIM could be activated first hand in Germany. I think it should be first used in Portugal.

Why couldn't it be? Wouldn't it just depend on who the carrier was? So for example if X company existed in Germany and they had another satellite division of X company in Portugal... could one not activate a SIM for the other? Also, we're assuming SIM cards were activated via legal means. But was there a way to use an illegal SIM card? Or have it activated under the radar? Perhaps by an associate at X store? Not sure I even make sense, but hoping you get my general meaning....

If only we knew what the prosecutor's got re: MM. This discussion might be so different.

To the people recently criticizing this forum... You took the time to join. Tell us your opinion. Don't forget to IMO and MOO (My opinion only)... or forever hold your peace.

MOO.

but you did use the sim in the location you bought the sim for, am i correct?
if a person lived in germany, why would they buy a sim card for use in portugal? unless they were going to use the sim at some point in portugal?
also, if a person bought a portuguese network sim, for use in germany, they would be paying international rates for each call to portugal. which sounds a bit odd, doesn't it?

side note: i notice that both mobile numbers are vodafone portugal network numbers.

I did buy it to use at a different location yes. It was cheaper than roaming fees at the time. And I did use it where it was intended to be used. I can't imagine why one would buy a card for use in Portugal if they lived in Germany and weren't planning to visit there. But... what if someone else handed them a SIM card and suddenly now, they had plans and were going to be in that location? Could someone have handed off SIM card to someone else? I know its complicated and probably way off the mark....

Its a strange thing to advertise ? maybe just a way for her to get work, if you are a parent and kid hyper you would gladly want some time out, so some parents would never leave hyper kids with anyone, just way too much, but if someone said they are fine with that, great. I had a very hyper child , anything for a break, however maybe she was targeting one child in particular ??

Hopefully Matty and Arnie have gone off to play trolls together

Okay I’ve found it Detective who lived next door to Madeleine McCann suspect 'is working with police to find her' | Daily Mail Online

The claim about the ex British detective living next door helping Portuguese LE to locate MM came from OS, the guy now living at Foral & CB broke his nose. I’m scratching my head at this....The retired SY detectives name is Roy Whitehouse. Strange thing is I’ve found an obituary for him o_O
Expats destroyed vital DNA clues as Maddie suspect linked to more sex crimes and potentially a child rape in Spain - Olive Press News Spain

Could he have faked his own death in 2017? Is he still alive? Thought please everyone!

I have 2 sim cards, phone unlocked, one for Ireland and one for Morocco, then I just swap, I would never use the Irish in Morocco so expensive, so could this person have one for Germany and one for Portugal, did they think if call traced it would confuse things for LE ? JMT

That's a good possibility. Caller could use a Portuguese card in an unlocked mobile for better tariffs. More likely if caller visited Portugal from time to time. They could think that, but operator will tell in a second call originated abroad and will tell police which foreign operator used. They're right it'll be harder to trace because of red tape, but if crime is important enough it'll be traced anyway.
