The photofit is Tannerman, not Smithman.

Another weakness with the Smith identification is that none of the Smith family recognised GMc when he appeared on their screens the following morning.

That is Jane Tanner’s (Tannerman) sighting. She was on holiday with the McCanns. This sighting has lots of issues and contrary to how memory works, her description became more precise as more time passed - Portuguese Police dismissed this sighting, I don’t think anyone has changed their mind on it.

In my opinion, the Smith sighting (Smithman) was very likely MM but even MS doesn’t think it was CB carrying her.

This article will help you in understanding who CH & Mr J are. I am in agreement that we have no confirmation other than mainstream media reports that the pub confession with CBs friend actually took place( we here at WS are only allowed to quote & speculate on LE statements or MSM ) that’s why I said IF we are to assume that CB admitted snatching MM...then why wouldn’t MS recognise him? MS has said he doesn’t recognise CB as the man he believes he saw carrying MM.
It is my opinion that too many witness statements seemed to be trying to implicate the McCanns but this is just moo. Sorry if I’m not explaining this best.

Adding MSM also reports that coworkers of CB heard his confession:

I’m not certain but I think this is only a weakness if it was GM carrying the child.

In the first statements on first taken 26 May 2007 the descriptions of the man are generic - 180cm, 25-40 in age, light brown hair.

MS only became 60% certain it was GM four-and-a-half months later based on the way (Same way as anyone would carry a child) he carried Sean off the plane. IMO, this second sighting is unreliable, if nothing else, the McCanns had been declared suspects as this point.

The original statements IMO are important.

It could mean both I guess, the gate would likely be by the road at the entrance to the area. CB being who he is would probably prefer the privacy deeper into 'his' land where he could film the 'Bounce" and whatever else he did in peace.

It’s difficult to know if the Smithman sighting is relevant. PJ should have asked parents carrying kids home from crèche to come forward & interviewed apartment residents down that route.

It’s an impossible task to do an efit for someone you see in passing in the dark without specs (as MS). Height & clothing style may be more accurate. MS & family described him as 5’7”-5’9” brown hair, black jacket, beige cotton pants. I think CB would have been described as 6’, slim build, fair hair.

I'm confused at the comparison and so called "similarity" in the sightings and how GM came off the plane. GM carried the child upright off the plane, while the sightings in PdL were of a child being carried across the arms. IMO

I think(?) those are two different alleged sightings. The 'across the arms' was the Jane Tanner one. I don't think the Smith one was said to be holding the child in that way, hence the Smith description of how GM carrying the child off the plane triggered his memory ie. upright, across his shoulder, as one would normally carry a sleepy/sleeping child.

(PS. haven't read full thread so maybe this has been pointed out already.)

Here is decision from Second Instance Court of Évora on CB's European warrant as requested by Staatsanwaltschaft Flensburg. The request was made on August 22, 2019 and so it was of course unanswered by August 31, 2019 when CB should be released. Decision is dated January 21, 2020.

Oh, yes, Ireland was on the CB side. It showed up at the first trial a few weeks ago. That's why people in Germany were so sceptical about the ECJ ruling.

But I didn't want to talk about it so much, in order not to appear nationalistic or to give the impression that I was discrediting Ireland. It is their right to do so.

Yes, they were interrogated & ruled out, I believe. RR worked in OC (kitchen?), JdS a OC driver, PR a telephone contact of RR. UK police were interested in calls between them on the night of 3/5/07.
