We need to be circumspect about DS, the festival guy - he’s only a friend of a friend of HB. If he was the one with the phone, he may have been in N Portugal & just able to place the other phone in CB’s hand.

- Then there is this other tweet by MWT dated July 16 in which he states that he has passed on significant info to German LE

Welcome! I think you’re right, it’s just strange CB has a friend name DS. It’s a crazy coincidence this boy has ended up with the same phone number as a guy who has the same name as him linked to the case!

I don't think so. Diogo Silva was launched by a Portuguese newspaper a few days after information on a mobile was requested.

No one knows who Diogo Silva is, a common name. Or if that's current mobile owner, which tells nothing about who hold it in 2007.

Can’t vouch for there being media stating this at the time it was mentioned, and I can’t find anything on Google now, either. Neither could the folks on Reddit so I’ve no idea where it came from. There’s been so much uncertainty about this number, so everything has been chopped and changed over the months. So far it’s “belonged” to DS, NM and the latest is a German paedophile that used the DW (at least 2/3 of these are courtesy of MWT constantly changing his mind )

The rumour about DS being a 15 year old boy was peddled around a couple of months ago (mostly on reddit) but nobody seems to be able to find the source of where this was established.

As far as I'm aware, the name DS was first touted following a few people (Mark Williams Thomas being the first I can recall) doing a reverse lookup on social media apps. It was found a Snapchat account and deleted Whatsapp account under the name DS were linked to the number. Neither of these apps were around in 2007 though.

Personally I don't think DS (whoever they are) is the person who called CB that night. The police would have identified those social media profiles during their 3 year investigation and easily located that person if they believed it could be the caller. Phone numbers get recycled pretty quickly by the providers and it's most likely DS is someone who obtained the number some time later.

I think you're right. The Dragon fest (the big one at Orgiva) takes place in March (Spring as per the Speigel piece).

I specifically remember it as I had to paste it into google translate. That being said, I can’t for the life of me source it now so it’s likely tabloid/illegitimate anyway!

This is the most frustrating thing for me in the age of internet news - they can go back and edit their articles to reflect more up-to-date info and leave no trace of the original! Bring back retractions lol
