The British ex has a British ex husband who also knows CB - they lives in Lagos. Other accounts have spoken of the drug fuelled pizza parties where CB appeared to have a male, British friend...

I wonder which friend of CB was the identikit one who was alleged to be tall, blonde and had green eyes? They spoke English together.

The British ex girlfriend says that she's frightened to speak in case he gets released.

This is huge in as far as there seems to be a story every hour about him. I don't remember ever seeing as much about someone who hasn't even been arrested before.

I think the PJ source is correct - this is an attempt to agitate the waters.

Wonder if the German police are most focussed on getting him for some other offences

2017 German police smashed a major peadophille site on the dark web called Elysium ,which was hosted from Germany , they also recovered the servers they were using ,it takes a long time to crack these servers, perhaps the police have found something

Yes, that’s the one I’m thinking of. It’s not out of the question that he’d be dating his friend’s ex or vice versa. Sounds from the report like she was and is terrified of CB.

There was a Maddie documentary tonight on ID tonight & when New Scotland Yard became involved in 2012 they checked phone records for the night Maddie went missing & identified 3 employees at ocean club who were described as hot due to the amount of calls made that night. Neither of them were named as DS
Thanks for sharing this. It could be significant.

Is that the one reported on yesterday?

It looks like that. Why throw out all these other potential crimes at the same time?

Hang on - sorry, no. I’m thinking of the other man from witness reports about CB hosting pizza parties and trading drugs for sex. He supposedly had a British friend. Wasn’t the identikit account from the complex? Sillence’s report? She said she saw men on the balcony but I was sure they were German/ Dutch. I’ll go and read that again.

If they’re pinning MM on him purely because it’s high profile enough to bide time that’s very risky. I know most wont be sympathetic to someone like CB being wrongly implicated but still...

But they still need more.

Which asks the question what happens if there's no evidence for any of the crimes and he's released? Not that I'm sympathetic!

Hi all, and thanks sillybilly for reopening.
My sincere apologies for posting pictures without links. New here, lots to learn.

Is there feeling (or even better, confirmation) that the sole reason CB is a suspect is because of the confession in the bar?

I ask because it feels like there was more to get the ball rolling. The vehicles were seized long before this came to the press. It feels they’ve cracked SOME web/mass of info/treasure trove of evidence? Findings at the box factory for one.

Piecing together the few things we now know, they've fancied this guy for a some serious crimes domestically. They since got him for the violent rape (under appeal).

After a couple of years investigation, they haven't been able to connect him to MM.

So I don't think they are trying to pin it on him, but maybe they are just using this connection to generate a media storm about this guy and see what comes out.

They may be able to close some cold cases if people talk.

so what I should ask you all, far more eloquently than I put it above, is the press announcement:

- a last ditch attempt to get anything concrete at all OR
- to get the final, small details, to snare completely?

‘Once he totally lost it when we sat together with friends and had a conversation about the Maddie case.

'He wanted us to stop talking about it. He shouted, “The child is dead now and that’s it”.’
Oh my god... :(

What do you think re: the confession the bar? Obviously the fact that the same night he confessed to the rape of the 72 year old and that went on to ultimately secure them a conviction makes him massively credible as a witness.

Oh my god... :(

But people who are fixated with this kind of thing say this kind of stuff. We know he fantasised about it so he would’ve thought about it at length. I’m not sure about this piece of evidence... or maybe I just don’t want to consider it. :(

I’m still confused re the rape. He hasn’t served that sentence yet - surely in all likelihood his appeal won’t be successful?
