The BKA seem to be definitely connecting the crimes to MM's case. Otherwise why the need to explain that this is the same person accused of killing MM? And why highlight the abuse of children?

Some kind of strategy? Evidence and /or MO that would involve and/or tie all cases?

From the public statement:

The accused is the same person who is being investigated in connection with the disappearance of the then 3-year-old British girl Madeleine Beth McCann on May 3, 2007 from an apartment complex in Praia da Luz in Portugal on suspicion of murder.

The accused is a sex offender with multiple criminal records who has been convicted of, among other things, the sexual abuse of children.
The accused is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence for a rape he committed in Portugal...

Does anyone have any info on the unsolved child rape at the 2007 Dragon Festival, other than what is written at Olive Press. Expats destroyed vital DNA clues as Maddie suspect linked to more sex crimes and potentially a child rape in Spain - Olive Press News Spain

The page/group mentioned is worth looking at, the admin who seems to have got himself into some trouble calling out the local officials and long time residents of Orgiva for all manner of crimes incl. against children. The group admin seems to have disappeared about a year ago. He had been attacked on several occasions by alleged henchmen of the people he was calling out.

With the new evidence strongly suggesting that CB was at this festival maybe this attack has more relevance?

One shibboleth of McCann-accusers has been slain. It has long been held by them that the McCanns must be guilty, because offenders of Brueckner's type are serial offenders, and Madeleine's disappearance was 'one-off and unique'.

Oh, no, it wasn't.

Way back, before the name of Brueckner was ever linked publicly to the disappearance of Madeleine, Andy Redwood said that a line of enquiry was, what he termed, a 'burglary gone wrong'.

I don't think there's too much doubt, now, that he was alluding to Brueckner.
I don’t believe there is a shred of evidence showing CB was in or around that apartment let alone of an abduction and murder. There is no evidence of a burglary either.

Go to any tourist town (or any town for that matter) in the UK or abroad and I’m sure there will be a paedophile or two living amongst its community. As we all know that part of Portugal had a very famous British celebrity who had a penchant for young girls. One who KM mentions they had dinner with in her book.

By the sounds of it you could probably pick on any number of unsavoury characters in PDL living or visiting there in 2007. It just happens to be CB with nobody else to pin it on.

Going over old ground here, not cushion dog thankfully ;), but at the time I suggested that the object on the yellow fold up stool was a whip, some suggested it was a fire tool. There's a bed/blanket on the floor - We also thought this could be a still taken from a video.
I do think this pic is of significance, especially as it was released at the time of the appeal.

Right! The flickering indicates, that the picture was taken either from a screen as well, or it might be a screen capture from a paused videotape.

Kates claim of an open window is evidence of burglary

from the Regional Court of Braunschweig

Indictment for rape, sex. Abuse received

The Regional Court of Braunschweig confirms the receipt of an indictment of the Public Prosecutor's Office Braunschweig with five acts against sexual self-determination against a 45-year-old defendant.

Regarding the content of the charges, reference is made to the press release of the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office dated October 11, 2022.

The indictment comprises more than one hundred pages.

For reasons of presumption of innocence and protection of personality, no further details of the specific charges will be disclosed by the Regional Court.

According to the business allocation plan of the Regional Court, the 2nd Criminal Chamber is responsible for the proceedings as the Juvenile Protection Chamber (file number 2 KLs 213 Js 52790/18 (15/22). In the interlocutory proceedings now commencing, the 2nd Criminal Chamber will first serve the defendant and his defense counsel with the indictment. This will give them the opportunity to comment on the charges brought by the prosecution, to raise objections to the opening of the main proceedings and/or to request the taking of evidence.

In the so-called intermediate proceedings, the chamber examines whether the indictment will be admitted and the main proceedings opened. It is not possible at present to give a time forecast as to the duration of this examination. The court decides to open the main proceedings if, according to the results of the preparatory proceedings, the defendant is sufficiently suspected of having committed criminal acts through his conduct. Sufficient suspicion exists if a subsequent conviction of the accused appears probable with the available admissible evidence. The interlocutory proceedings end with a decision by the chamber on whether or not to open the main proceedings in the form of an order. Only when the court opens the main proceedings will the chamber subsequently set dates for the main hearing and make decisions on the organizational course of the main hearing.

The defendant is currently in criminal custody on the basis of a judgment of the Regional Court of Braunschweig (file number 1 KLs 71/19, sentence to a total term of imprisonment of 7 years).

The Criminal Division will still have to decide on the issue of issuing an arrest warrant against the defendant in these criminal proceedings.

Due to the current workload of the 2nd Criminal Chamber with main trial dates in already pending criminal proceedings with so-called detention cases (in which the defendants are in pre-trial detention and detention review dates are pending promptly), a start of the trial, insofar as the main trial is opened, is not to be expected this year.

Notice:

A press release will be issued as soon as a decision has been reached in the interim proceedings. We kindly ask you to refrain from further inquiries, as in view of the state of the proceedings, no further information on the proceedings will be provided either by telephone or in writing at present.

Thank you for your understanding!

The Guardian males no mention of a killing.

“Specifically, the accused is charged with three offences of aggravated rape and two offences of sexual abuse of children,” the prosecutor’s office added.

No, that has to be a translation error. Perhaps Superdad can clarify.

per my notes - and I put the German in google translate.

2. On another day between December 28, 2000 & April 8, 2006, which can no longer be precisely determined, the accused is said to have killed an unknown, German-speaking girl aged at least 14 naked in the house he lived in in Praia da Luz in Portugal tied to a wooden pole in the living room. First he hit the naked girl with a whip. The accused is said to have brutally forced the girl to have oral sex. The accused also videotaped this act.

Is this incorrect @SuperdadV8 ??

and I do see before that sentence - which can no longer be precisely determined. So no killing of 14 year old?

If it's this text:

Then no mention of a killing.

This is the 1:1 translation of the prosecutors press release:

"On another day between December 28, 2000 and April 8, 2006, which can no longer be precisely determined, the accused allegedly assaulted an unknown, German-speaking girl aged at least 14 naked in the house he lived in in Praia da Luz in Portugal tied up the wooden pole in the living room. Thank you for this! I have some questions:
Does this mean that CB has not yet been interrogated?
Would the juvenile court handle all cases together?
Does this also mean that CB and FF have not yet seen all files?
And I guess we will not become privy to any of the evidence even if it does go to trial?

Kates claim of an open window is evidence of burglary
So CB entered or left (carrying MM) through that window? Why didn’t he try the unlocked patio doors or was he worried about the clear view from the Tapas restaurant and the regular checks? He is a rubbish burglar as he stole nothing.

1.
He has been but refused to say anything without taking a look into the casefiles. The prosecutors just have to admit to that, if the investigation has been declared as finished. So now he has the possibility to take a look into the files, submitted by the court.

2.
It does.

3.
Probably. It depends on the circumstance, if the court will allow a partial presence of the media, or not. But probably it won't.
