I'm a little confused here. HCW said that CB abducted and murdered MM and that he wasn't looking at anyone else in connection with MM's disappearance.

Where has the idea that there was someone else involved in the alleged abduction come from?

Just trying to establish and pin down what it is at this late stage we can take as known facts in terms of where this investigation is.

I confess, the thought had never occurred to me that Brueckner might have had an accomplice. But if that's right, that would certainly explain why Scotland Yard have been given extra funding even though the Germans have got Brueckner under lock and key. Scotland Yard are going after the accomplice.
Could be the person who called him from the publicised number (00 351 916 510 683) between 7.30-8pm. IIRC, MWT identified a German paedophile as a user of that number.

BKA don't have jurisdiction to look at anyone else in connection with Madeleine's disappearance. They've stated that CB acted alone in the murder.
It's just speculation as to what SY are doing which warrants another £300,000 funding from the Home Office. Dotting i's and crossing t's on UK witness statements doesn't cost that much.

Really ? I thought the caller was unknown.

Brueckner is being prosecuted in Germany because he is a German citizen.
To extradite a foreign citizen to Britain would not be the same thing

To give an example, Gary Glitter was tried in UK for offences in Asia because he was a UK citizen.
I thought he was convicted of crimes committed in the uk, having served sentences in Asian prisons and being deported.

Speculation at best imo.

Officially yes. There wasn’t any confirmation from BKA.

MWT passed info to BKA indicating his IT specialist identified a paedophile operating in Germany who used the number to register on a social media site, Knuddels or Kik.

Admittedly this article is nearly a year old:

Last month, the 45-year-old was made an "arguido" - which translates as "named suspect", "formal suspect" or "person of interest" - by Portuguese authorities in the disappearance of little Madeleine.

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told Portugal TV investigator Sandra Felgueiras he could not comment on the speculation.

When she pressed Mr Wolters on if Madeleine was sold to the suspect, he replied "Maybe, it’s a possibility."

If that speculation is right, then Brueckner is not even the prime suspect.

That line may, since, have been discarded, though.

Don't know.

They are unknown unless HCW confirms otherwise. Which he hasn't.

We seem to have gone down a bit of a strange rabbit hole here, no?

I'm back to my fence-sitting and waiting for Godot something official and concrete and credible from someone official and concrete and credible.

Absurd.

Has anyone seen the actual interview? It seems impossible to me that HCW would say something so ridiculous.

The line of discussion was prompted by Scotland Yard being granted extra funding and speculation as to why.

Do you have any better suggestions?

I don't mean you. I mean the article.

Did HCW really say that to Sandra? Do we have the source?

If he said that I am done with the whole thing

It does seem absurd but then HCW has said such a lot of absurd and wholly contradictory things over the course of the last 3 years so I'm not seeing it as quite as absurd and/or surprising as you are.

And the quote's in inverted commas.

As I said earlier, I think it's time to leave this nonsense to those who have a tolerance for it.

I was wondering if we have the original Sandra source

1. This seems a ridiculous theory -

2. If he really said it, then clearly he has no evidence around the 5a abduction itself.

Was it the same interview after which he had to correct about there being no forensic evidence found in the vehicles.

2: Was/is there ever evidence of such.

According to Sexta, Police launched a ‘global investigation’ to locate the accomplice, possibly a German drifter.
Could it be CMK? That was a global investigation.

The accomplice could also be the tall blonde German in the playground who got away when CB was arrested for exposing himself. Has he been charged with that?

He doesn't exactly say what the Mirror say he said, but he pretty much does say it in this interview. May 3 2022

(he says he's evidence-deprived about what happened in 5a anyway)
