Speaking to The Mirror, Mr Wolters said: “We will issue a short press release. But please don't expect too much, especially nothing spectacular.”
It's classic Wolters... we will tell you, but I'm already telling you, we have nothing to tell you unless you are interested in not very much!

<modsnip: suggesting the search was a publicity stunt>

So, new nothing...
They will need his confession. (for better prison conditions?!).
He could be out in 2026 unless they crack on with the 5 charges he faced or faces.

IMO some/any of those 5 will keep him there.
In any case, won't he give in till 2026?!

Sounds like they didn’t find what they were looking for. I certainly don’t think they’ll be deterred because of this. IMO this will have been & will be part of a number of searches they do in Portugal. IMO your point is spot on! confession for a better prison may be the way they find MM’s remains. May be a while after he’s convicted to get that information. My guess is they’ll have been very close to finding her but not quite in the right places

Give into what ? Let's run with he had something to do with the girls demise, 6 yrs of investigating is suggestive that there is not enough to indict him, in which case what will be gained in a confession, better prison conditions ? He's in solitary, put him with others raising risk of attack, would that be an improvement !

The same person who suggested RM was the abductor, and 2-3 bodies would be found in the lake?

Honestly I feel much of the coverage of this case verges on fanfic
his claims on Sky last week about the search wasnt that impressive either actually.

BIB. Are there any examples of where this strategy has ever worked to get someone to confess a murder?

I've generally only heard of it in terms of cooperation agreements (US), or people who plead guilty

Are there people who confess to a murder they've not been charged with?

It's makes you wonder just what influence these tales are trying too install.

I think a lot of true crime content is produced simply because there is demand for it.

Think of all the worthless articles in the last week that say basically nothing. We could have just watched HCWs presser, and checked the BBC and we'd know just as much.

LOL. We will have to wait to see. JC is an asset for HCW/BKA in Portugal so I would be surprised if that claim isn’t based on some intel or isn’t designed to get someone talking.

My opinion too. Just not sure, if, even if they get closer, will be really possible to find MM's remains, traces?!

Very last sentence of the article.

Let's wait and see.

I guess in a way we all contribute to it, this case has been going for so long with many a twist along the way, 2020 one would have thought finally it's about to end,but here we are no closer save a prime suspect who a prosecuter is of the belief the suspect killed the girl, recent searches are suggestive imo that any charges remain out of reach .

He is the one claiming for. Bluffing?!

Haven’t posted for a long time but I’ve been following this case in detail since 2007.

I could envisage a scenario where CB or (less likely imo) his dog’s hair, could be linked to apt 5a.

But I’m curious to know how you explain the blood and cadaver alerts by Eddie and Keela the UK police dogs. Do you think they made a mistake or were prompted in some way?
It is possible that this scent was applied by someone. To deliberately make the McCanns suspicious. It takes a while for a corpse smell to develop. And the body is no longer there. The dogs arrived 3 months later.
And Eddie made no mention of Gerry's clothes or belongings. This is something to think about ..

<modsnip: quoted post was removed> I am wondering how they could say they didn't find any forensics after just a week of researching the samples they collected?? These things take much more time imo. That is why I am a bit afraid they didn't find what they were looking for , such as more usb sticks or similar..or even pieces of garments...

Remember, they dug up the allottment in Hannover for a few days and said nothing tangible about possible results. Why should they do that now?

I suggest, that finding MM's body would have been spectacular enough to know, that they can't keep it under the carpet. So they would report it. It wouldn't jeopardise the investigation at all. So IMO they didn't find her. Or kind of a body, or parts of a body in general.

Telling the media better to not expect any spectacular statements means nothing else than doing it like they did it in the past.

"Were not going to tell you what we have against the suspect."

That's all IMO. But we'll see....
