They've got all they need or we would have heard from them. SY have reiterated there will be no running commentary and I think that is a process shared by BKA (and the current PJ team)
My opinion
If only the public prosecutor's office followed their leads. (But then we'd have nowt at all to talk about o_O )

So another lead gone nowhere, if the Mail is to be believed

Didn’t He Who Must Not Be Mentioned say that CB was the perfect patsy, ie that he fitted the profile of one who would commit just such a crime of abduction and murder? There’s one professional opinion!

How does his criminal record NOT fit in with such a crime I wonder…?
My thoughts too. So, the defense of his criminal record seen as less serious (?!) during some periods and with no convictions for murder count more than his real global profile (and record!), together with the police accusation and appeal (don't even say about the plausibility of evaded detection in other crimes) and make him not fit for such a crime.

Even with his known criminal record, since he never "did" in the past, before and after 2007, (or get caught...), so it cannot be him...I would say a lightly, risky and dangerous deduction to not say worse.

Well it's clearly not advanced the case, now it might be if intelligence was supplied by a third party it shows it not too reliable.A caveat ought by added, the story the Mail says is from a red top.

"...source close to the case....";)
Its all we ever have.
I well remember 'source close to the family' being quoted whenever the McCanns had anything to say.

I think people's views on CB have been influenced by the stories in the media. The problem with that is that they cannot be relied on. Trial by media doesn't always rely on truth, but on innuendo, gossip and publicity seeking 'witnesses.
What's your view on CB...do you think he's a decent chap overall

Personal views are not relevant.
What is relevant is whether police have hard evidence to support their view.

Eliminated from the enquiry is probably better terminology. It happens.

The original reporter is Aliki Kraterou at The Sun, their foreign correspondent. She may have someone in Wolter’s office or BKA. I suspect it’s the kind of news they’d have to leak rather than make a splash.

officers are naturally really disappointed.
If this is confirmed, really not a surprise at all. A surprise was having 3 police forces there...which makes me wonder if the evidence could be stronger than I initially imagined, even if considered to be further strengthened.

In case CB did it, for the police, first, they would need to find the right location, then find forensics there. Both even complicated by time factor.
Again, I think they would only get there with his confession.

My post was sarcasm...I think there is plenty of evidence to show how evil.cb is and the idea that the media is painting a false picture..as gunit suggests is plain daft

I don't think CB will ever volunteer a confession.

I'm also seeing that way.
If he is charged with the other crimes, I would only see any eventual option for that could happen for better prison conditions, if that is possible. But, in fact, he already wrote he is tough as old boots.

If he were to face trial and be found guilty in MM's case the very least he could expect is adequate prison treatment. To penalise him in any way really would be abrogating his human rights. Being as tough as old boots isn't going make the loss of his freedom to roam as he was used to any easier.

Hypothetically, I think the only satisfaction that will be left to him is the power he has of knowing what was done with MM's remains and what was done to her.

He won't relinquish that while he can still enjoy the absolute power of torturing her parents with it. It will be the only meaningful power remaining to him.

Understand your points.
I was referring in case he is convicted in any/all other cases while MM's case still be investigated. Instead of the horizon of being released by 2026, he would be keep in during another decade (?). But no way, I think, he get out from solitary confinement, even for his own protection. In fact, there have been others who have not capitulated for many years.

I'll take your word for it. Sarcasm doesn't work well on a written forum.

If innocent as regards MM then he won't have anything to confess
