This seems important to me. MN was either an accomplice to MM’s abduction or he heard about it firsthand from CB.

maybe the german plate number is now registered to, and being used by, an innocent person.

but i wonder why a van registered with a german plate, needs to have its plates changed, to portuguese plates? is there an innocent explanation...
would be interesting if CB was the one that was buying vehicles, and then changing or swapping plate numbers...

I have none. The guy who bought it was also German. That's [newspaper EDIT]: police info that van had a Portuguese plate at time of selling in 2015. Also he would spend at least 500€ or even more to have it exchanged, which makes even less sense...

Yes, I read that. But, if I understood it correctly, Diogo Silva is the person that owns that number now. They don‘t know who owned the number in 2007 and hence that phone call approx. 1 hour before MM’s disappearance could still be important.

Last year the original head of the PJ investigation Goncalo Amaral predicted a german suspect would be named and made a 'scapegoat'. He said he was a Greman national in prison for child abuse but not Martin Ney - so that came true with CB.

That's a good question I'd like to answer. If it has a D, then it must have had a German plate at some time. They say it had a Portuguese plate when sold. So he could have exchanged it. I'm not sure they must remove D after exchanging plate (I guess so). The pictures aren't dated, and that doesn't help.

BTW, if van belongs to CB, is believed to be of vital forensic importance and is confiscated by police for investigation, why do they insist concealing plate?

Because a sleuth could find out who had owned it previously and who'd owned it in Germany before it was registered in Portugal

@Owlpellet We know he sold the van with a Portuguese plate in 2015 to a German living in Algarve and that van has been confiscated by police later.

I can't believe he sold it for 5.500€ and had the roof sawed before. If that's true about swimming pool, he might had just disassembled roof and joked with ex telling her he sawed it.

I believe M N confessed to all the crimes he was jailed for - it wouldn't have taken much to get MM info from him imho - even if he was offered a deal

He was working at a homeless shelter in Portugal, I wonder if this shelter is linked to the soup kitchen that CB is reported to have used?

Met police showed van with D and they say it had Portuguese plate (plate concealed). I admit that's the van German police confiscated.

Witnesses confirmed in 2007 he had a van very much like that. Anyway police can check all registrations.

Yes, but the strange thing is that various sources report that the person that called him was NOT in the area. So that means that it could not have been a resort employee that tipped him off. I think the police suspect that the tip off was only someone who told him of the Tapas Bar block booking and the fact that the kids would be left alone / appt was accessible.

You can't access German registrations. Only if you have a car accident and police will offer you only car brand and model.

In Portugal you can access all registrations against a fee, including foreign plate at the time a Portuguese plate was awarded.

sounds similar to what the germans are saying right now.

i still don't get how LE can corroborate 'something only McCann’s kidnapper could know' as they don't have any details themselves.
or LE do know how she was kidnapped, but it was never published in the pj files, and has never been mentioned by the MET or the German LE.
