From Daily Mail:

"As part of the appeal for information, the Met Police said in a statement that the suspect had ‘access to this van from at least April 2007 until sometime after May 2007’.

It added: ‘We believe he was living in this van for days, possibly weeks, and may have been using it on 3 May 2007.

‘We are appealing for anyone who may have seen it in or around Praia da Luz on 3 May, the night Madeleine went missing, the days before, or weeks following the disappearance.’"

Even tough they don't say expressly the van was used in kidnapping, if we assume he kidnapped MM then we can infer he was highly likely to have transported her in the van, don't you agree?

I'm not sure I agree, no. BKA have said explicitly that the Jag and the Westfalia are not thought to be directly linked to the case. If they thought it possibly might be the abduction vehicle, why say that? If someone had seen the van in the area for example, it would be completely counterproductive to make that comment. We know he had access to several other vehicles at the time and to be honest, if he had any sense, you wouldn't commit a major crime in a vehicle that could be easily linked to you when you have so many other options. His friend BP owned a car yard and that relationship is very sketchy from what we know.

Thinking out loud - Would the road signs in Gib be in English though? Arghhh!

Do we know whether this is in Portugal? Sorry can't read the sign. In the top right corner of the photo are a pair of distinctive grey towers.

Also, there's a statue. It can be seen by looking through the driver's side window and continuing your gaze through the front windshield.

They definitely have more but personally I don’t think it’s as simple as the phone number. It matters to them, for sure, but the reporter was only going by what he knows.

The OC employee connection is a longstanding theory. Next to the parents being involved, staff would be high on the list of people to eliminate.

I just don’t know how extensively they were investigated in 2007-2008, and from 2011. Staff were interviewed but the interviews I read were pretty basic summaries. Did they dig into ex-employees? Did they follow up with people and verify statements? I don’t know.

This is an interview with Miguel Coelho who worked at Tapas. He talks about his questioning by the PJ.

Since I linked the interview with Miguel Coelho, I just wanted to share this and get you guys' views on this.

Miguel Coelho's cousin, Tapas Bartender Jeronimo Tomas Rodrigues Salcedas said the following in regards to Madeleine.

P.J. POLICE FILES: TAPAS BAR EMPLOYEES STATEMENTS
May 4, 2007
He saw the missing Madeleine, for the last time, yesterday at 16.45h next to the restaurant.

P.J. POLICE FILES: JERONIMO TOMAS RODRIGUES SALCEDAS
May 6, 2007
In spite of having already observed many photos of Madeleine he claims that he could not state with any certainty that he had seen her at any moment.

My Note: Just wondering why such a difference in his statements just two days apart.

Who knows, he told one friend he had come into the money after finding a big bag of cash in a burglary. He told another though, he had made it trading lumber.

The claim about making money through the timber trade was how CB explained his ability to buy the disused factory premises. It's not related to his purchase of vehicles.
(Don't have the link to hand, but it was in the Bild report. I posted about it earlier as it was such an odd explanation.)

Because as a drug addict and under the influence of drugs during the rapes, he doesn't think straight

Not sure about that.He seems to have been very methodical about selecting the women in advance, visiting their apartments to familiarise himself with the layout, learning their names, etc. That doesn't suggest someone acting in a drug-fuelled haze.

Can you post a credible link in relation to this?

I've been puzzling over the phone appeal & trying to make sense of the timeline.

It seems that CB only came into the picture as a serious suspect after the 2017 anniversary appeal:
'“Following the ten- year anniversary, the Met received information about a German man who was known to have been in and around Praia da Luz. We have been working with colleagues in Germany and Portugal and this man is a suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance.'
(Operation Grange Update)

At this point, German LE had already been investigating him over the Inga case - they found the USB under animal bones in 2016.

In 2016/2017, CB wouldn't have had the same phone he was using in 2007, so:
- how do they know what his number was in 2007 (they obviously do know, as they've been able to find out that he received a call on it on the night Maddy disappeared)
- why has LE only now put out an appeal for people to help identify the caller?
- how do they know the first number is CB's, but don't know who the second belongs to? (Or do they?)
- when was the exchange of calls traced?

My suspicious mind is thinking perhaps the 2007 phone has only recently been found. Perhaps it was buried along with the USB, or turned up somewhere else. Perhaps it contains incriminating material that has only now been linked with CB &/or Maddie.

My thoughts aren't very clear at all, but I have a distinct sense that something doesn't quite add up here.

Time for bed!

Since CB is accused of robbing and raping the elderly women in PDL...

What if Pamela Fenn, late 70's/early 80's at the time, was CB's intended target in the apartment above the McCann's?

In some pictures and video clips in the room directly above where the children were staying, PF's shutters/blinds are open. In one it looks like her window is also open. What if CB opened the children's bedroom window to step on the window ledge to propel himself up to gain access to her apartment?

If he was unsuccessful in his attempts, he may have decided to take Madeleine.

It may be way out there but just a theory I thought I would share.

Apologies to the people I've snapped at in the last 12 hours or so, sorry Mendel and Loobyloo. Just getting so frustrated with this case now. Just wish we could have something to move it forward.
