Madeleine McCann: German prisoner identified as suspect - #7

I've been puzzling over the phone appeal & trying to make sense of the timeline.

It seems that CB only came into the picture as a serious suspect after the 2017 anniversary appeal:
'“Following the ten- year anniversary, the Met received information about a German man who was known to have been in and around Praia da Luz. We have been working with colleagues in Germany and Portugal and this man is a suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance.'

At this point, German LE had already been investigating him over the Inga case - they found the USB under animal bones in 2016.

In 2016/2017, CB wouldn't have had the same phone he was using in 2007, so:
- how do they know what his number was in 2007 (they obviously do know, as they've been able to find out that he received a call on it on the night Maddy disappeared)
- why has LE only now put out an appeal for people to help identify the caller?
- how do they know the first number is CB's, but don't know who the second belongs to? (Or do they?)
- when was the exchange of calls traced?

My suspicious mind is thinking perhaps the 2007 phone has only recently been found. Perhaps it was buried along with the USB, or turned up somewhere else. Perhaps it contains incriminating material that has only now been linked with CB &/or Maddie.

My thoughts aren't very clear at all, but I have a distinct sense that something doesn't quite add up here.

Apologies to the people I've snapped at in the last 12 hours or so, sorry Mendel and Loobyloo. Just getting so frustrated with this case now. Just wish we could have something to move it forward.

I understand it very well, because I feel very frustrated too. All we know so far isn't enough to charge him. Mr. Wolters claims they have strong evidence, but fears he can be released soon, something too contradictory to believe.

I think he has been a psychopath since at least his mid teens, and has molested, murdered, abducted or assaulted people in every location that he's been in.

He already was/had been involved with ‘like’ types when he first fled Germany. Only months after he did, a young boy went missing where CB was known to have been at the time.

He went there to abduct a child – not flee a sentence. He was paid in a large quantity of drugs to do it, but did he do it alone?, I doubt it.
He gets by with work through ‘friends’ in PdL and nearby, and running his drugs back and forth through Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Spain- as well as doing a little break and entry and sicko online .
PdL was his Portugese ‘base’ , which coincidentally is also the residence of other well known and previously convicted paedophiles. Probably just coincidence.
For a while he didnt have to steal so much, and had a part time job in PdL and was making money on the dark web for sicko videos. The drug running was working out well, he got to travel a few countries, and make a lot of new friends.
His lifestyle wasnt cheap though, and his ongoing use of drugs, prostitutes and alcohol, plus the money he used to fund his own ‘indecent activities’ couldnt be maintained. And then the drugs he had been selling, were gone. All sold. None left. Now he was on burglaries, online and his part time job to fund his drug fuelled lifestyle. He wouldve been losing his mind.
He either had to find some valuable goods in PdL resorts, OR had to see if he could do another abduction for $.
His local routine had been that he coordinates with a staff member for rooms or opportunities to burgle. As he staked out the room, and getting pretty desperate for drugs, he noticed that he had an opportunity to make this more than a routine burglary.
<Either he already knew a buyer, or within the time that the McCanns were in the resort, found one>
He had done it before and gotten away with it, so, why not again? He and an assistant executed the abduction unwittingly aided by the resort’s staff.
How they extracted themselves from the area I dont know...with help?, vehicle transfer?..
He then settled being content with all the drugs his habit and fantasies needed, and an ongoing income from drug running...at least for a while..and then Inga went missing coincidentally about 40km from a place CB owned and wanted to put a perspex lid on his cellar.


Follow the money, follow the routes and timelines, and know that there are others out there like him, and they all know each other.

This is laughable. How much can a person's hair grow in a year or less time?

It's half an inch per month, I think. So, admitting pictures can be 1.5 years apart at most, it'll be 9in. (22cm), not that long.

All that's nice theories without the slightest evidence. Abduct child against drugs? Can you substantiate that anyhow? Mr. Wolters believes MM is dead because he said in black web he would "destroy" evidence. I'll play his lawyer and ask, so why didn't he destroy evidence when he raped the retired woman in PDL? German authorities also arrested him for molesting a child in Germany as adult. No details offered, but one can guess he didn't destroy evidence. Is CB just a black web braggart? Hard questions to answer.

Question about walkie talkies (baby monitors) that the family kept on the table in the Tapas restaurant ....... have never heard that discussed here ... or I missed it

I wonder if those monitors were on all the time ... or do you have to pick it up and press a button to listen ? Did the family mention hearing anything ? Can you hear a baby monitor in a busy restaurant ?

That's very good question I've never seen discussed before. Not even too mentioned by the press. How many intercoms were there and who hold them? Very important information.

Tonight on TV in the UK the ID TV channel (on Sky its number 154 I believe or nearabouts) they are showing their own documentary (I believe) called the Madeleine McCann Mystery at 9pm (21:00). I had so many points I wanted to discuss after watching this but needed to make notes! Hoping you have all picked up on the points as I continue to catch up on this thread. If not I will watch it again and make notes.

I would think 10k is probably only around 10-15 burglaries on average. I’ve had 2k robbed out my safe on holiday once. If he does that 5 times he’s got his 10k as quick as that.f they are self catering etc. It’s not unrealistic to think he would acquire 10k quite easily I would think.

Baby monitors don't need to be held nor a button continuously pressed to listen in on the other end. Obviously the kids would not be able to hear their parents but the parents would be able to hear even light snoring, if positioned relatively nearby. This is how my kids monitors work anyway. Even if the battery gets low or dies on one end, the other monitor will be alerted.

I fully agree. 30 minutes are calls between close persons. I don't imagine criminal doing 30min. plans by mobile as everybody knows that's a fragile way that can be traced. Such long plans are more likely to be done in person. Also, remember that as it can be deducted from news, that incoming call couldn't be located, it means it didn't originate in PDL or it would have been logged, too.

What if Pamela Fenn, late 70's/early 80's at the time, was CB's intended target in the apartment above the McCann's?

In some pictures and video clips in the room directly above where the children were staying, PF's shutters/blinds are open. In one it looks like her window is also open. What if CB opened the children's bedroom window to step on the window ledge to propel himself up to gain access to her apartment?

If he was unsuccessful in his attempts, he may have decided to take Madeleine.

Interesting point. That ties in with information from the ID documentary last night about her apartment having an attempted break in and that the most common burglaries and break ins from holiday apartments are 1) Corner (end of row etc) apartments and 2) 1st floor apartments.
