Wait... could that photo of the van have come from traffic cam at the place where it ws taken? Or security at the place where it was taken...?

Good question. I wouldn't think so for a reason: There are 3 or 4 pictures of the van took about the same time (I conclude that from rusting marks in van) and they all look quite similar in that van is photographed alone in an angle (always showing plate clearly), so I think more likely all them were taken by same person and for the same reason.

That's new to me, too. It really escaped. I always thought they were talking about dark web. Skype isn't dark web, or is it? o_O
No skype is quite different, you have to add someone, kinda like What’s App.

CB's vehicle in a queue yes. But unless they can put CB in that car at that time, this might not be super significant (or maybe it is, if he lent his car to someone....). Ugh. Who knows. Hopefully police can use the info somehow!

Of course no one will arrest him for being in a queue. But now you know he traveled to Melilla and have new places to search for evidence you didn't consider before.

On the tanner sighting, a man came forward, and said it was him, and the Smith sighting was around 10 pm, or a little before, and so GM was at the tapas restaurant, so not him, even though the Smith man said he thought it was GM, that was on that programme the other night, hope that makes sense

Yes, but my point was- why has Smithman not also been ruled out? The witness states 2 things that wouldn't be possible if it had been MM.
(And info given by someone else suggests Tannerman's child wasnt wearing pyjamas of the description given by JT).
in other words, both sightings have seemingly been ruled in/out with no solid reason to

If we only knew when this picture was taken....grrrr.

How then was CB using a phone OWNED by the Ocean Club? Was he under their employ in some capacity, or did he perhaps STEAL an employee's phone? Is it then possible that that if he stole a phone or borrowed a phone from an employee, that this is why they put out the phone number in the media? If the phone is registered as owned by the Ocean Club... they really have to prove it was in his hands, otherwise his lawyer can just say it wasn't in his name, and he didn't use it at the time or at all.

Most mobiles in Portugal, especially in 2007, are unlikely to have a name. You can just buy a SIM and insert it. LE uses charging by ATM (quite usual, but it can be done in payshops and supermarkets anonymously) to discover owner and also recover IMEI and then check all SIM used by that mobile. In this case, according to news, it was a OC's employee who had CB's number in an old diary. LE usually investigates mobiles used at this time or not long before. Investigating 13 years ago might be quite difficult especially because data destruction under protection laws.

So did I. Not sure if you are being sarcastic. Skype is like Whatsapp - you can have normal text chats or webcam chats on there. I doubt the chats can be encrypted either.

I wouldn't consider Skype or Whatsapp dark web. Whatsapp is encrypted. About Skype I don't know. No sarcastic purpose

"We know that the phone number, which was used by our suspect on the 3rd of May 2007, was connecting in the mast, belonging to the Ocean Club in Praia Da Luz," Wolters said.

I think it means the cell tower mast? No?

As far as I can see from call logs in "Processo" files there's a single mast in PDL at the time which covers all area.

I thought they had already given a name to whomever had the call with CB, ( or should I say who the phone was registered to) and it was a very common name in portugal somebody silva?

A Portuguese newspaper said it was Diogo Silva, but I don't know how they did that. Also, that wasn't talked about again. There's no Diogo Silva in OC employee's listings in "Processo" files.

I am not familiar with Portugal or surroundings, but does one of you know whether there are toll roads or license plate registrations systems?
In Germany it was also used for the search of Rebecca R. There was later a conflict about the use of this data.
Erinnerungen an Rebecca werden wach: Polizei muss Daten erfasster Nummernschilder löschen

One of the unfortunate aspects of the German legal process is there is no incentive for a suspect to own up to the crime or talk about anything. There is no Guilty/not Guilt plea in court either. Unlike in most other countries, you don't get any sort of reduced sentence for owning up to the crime. The Prosecutor simply lays out the evidence to the Judge and the Defence contend any points if they wish to. The Judge alone then decides if they believe they are guilty or not and sentencing is passed down.

That's a Roman law system like most countries in Europe. Quite different from Common Law in UK and USA, where judge is much more powerful.

There are tolls in highways in Portugal, but I think he can travel from PDL to Spanish border without passing one. Not just tolls, there are other sources of information: accident records from insurance companies, compulsory inspections and traffic fines.

ETA:

All plates are registered at national level. As a rule, each vehicle has a permanent plate that keeps unchanged after selling it. All registrations for a plate can be checked by anyone against a fee.

@sleuth-d-

SPIEGEL TV exklusiv: Das kriminelle Leben des Christian B. - DER SPIEGEL - Panorama
16:14 in the video

There is more in the conversation. Der Spiegel highlighted some frases. W= CB
P - hi
W - how are things going ;)
P - quite well
P - and with you?
W - quite well???? bad for me, finally want to *** a little one
P - Yes, who doesn't
W - Do you have new films?
P - No, unfortunately not yet, I didn't have time during the week
W - Ok, Sending around films is also dangerous
P - You're right

I'm not sure the conversation is ungoing, this is on another page, and I can't see the timestamp very good. I think it's 2013 and so far passed the disappearance of Maddy, him talking what he wants to do. Could be a decoy, in case off....

W - catch something small, that's (would be) it (in a sense this would be the ultimate)
P - its also not without danger
W - och (in the sence swiping it from the table), when the evidence is destroyed afterwards
P - hm
W - when the "deepthroat", for example took to long
W - ---------
W - when then I would make a lot - a lot of movies he he (nasty laugh, like grinz)
P - Oh yes, do that
W - I will document exactly how she is tormented
P - cool
W - Well, first see, not only talk but also do! he he (nasty laugh, like grinz)
P - ;)

The -----------is impossible to read, not leaving something out.
The word "deepthroat" is in the original, used by CB.
Thank you. The date of this conversation is September 29 2013. which can be seen on the print outs on the video

I find it interesting that CB was not using a secret forum, or the dark web. this is taking place on skype. Not the level of secrecy that was previously thought.

I think the other two photos match. Vehicle on sand, Remote location. no people. Sliding door open in one shot. You could easily see them as displaying the vehicle, ‘for sale’ type photos.
The Malaga photo doesn’t have this look.
