Also, anyone know if CB could actually swim? It does look as if his van may have had lifebuoys. Would he have been able to use them for life saving? Or for crime eg floating bodies to caves that are supposed to be around the coastline in Portugal.

Possibly.

Cadaver dogs are considered a valuable tool by some forensic experts. The level of accuracy and consistency is highly variable. Dogs can only be used for buried evidence with a human component. Some dogs are trained to detect only those still living or recently deceased, while others are trained to detect older burials, and a few are trained in both.


And I know from a couple of cases in Australia that police can use ground penetrating radar to look for buried objects (including people).


Ground penetrating radar is a key tool used by law enforcement and crime scene investigators for locating evidence behind brick or concrete walls, under wooden floors, or in hidden compartments, including clandestine burials and buried objects. It can be used to identify disruptions in soils, so even if the evidence itself is difficult to resolve, simply identifying that a hole was dug can point investigators in the right direction. It can also rule out suspect areas, which limits excavation, saving time and money.

Highly unlikely. Photography umbrellas (those intended for use in photography) don't have the big handles observed on this one. The ones we use are often skinny metal wire rods without handles so we can attach them to flash heads and tripods etc. This appears a regular rain umbrella in my opinion. That said, sure. It COULD be used for photography in the following ways (off the top of my head): to block light and create shadows. In the rain, if a flash is placed behind a subject (or any light, even a streetlight), depending on your settings you can get a cool silhouette shot, and possibly freeze the rain in motion.... google rain flash freeze photography images to see what I mean... I don't want to risk a copyright violation by posting someone's photos here.

Well he would deffo have to do something with them, I would presume safer to bury them within the grounds of his own property, didn't one of them have lots of wells? If they were put somewhere with public access, they would be discovered more easily, and maybe people walking their dogs may start digging, now I've just said that, Wells would be ideal, as it would be so much more difficult to find, awful thoughts

Yes, cadaver dogs probably could detect if human remains were on that beach where the photo of the camper van appear to have been taken. here is the google overhead view from 16 august 2007.
the elements of the VW photo are in place: white flag poles, blue entrance canopies, overhead road sign, tall grey lighting pole, small ground level sign with the two arrows.
to narrow down the date still further, and preferably further back in time towards may, the task would be to find anything in the VW photo, that only appeared at a certain date in Malaga.

42 feet, according to an article in the daily star from 25 June 2017 referring to a well near the Ocean Club complex, which was one of hundreds. Used by local criminals.

Again, I am wondering if the dogs could be used to indicate wells for proper searching?

I think he’s more likely to dispose of bodies completely so they can not be found

Just my opinion.
He lives in a country that rarely rains. Yet he has a massive umbrella very close to hand, as if it's used regularly.
I also always have an umbrella in the car, but it's chucked in the back of the car or boot - and I live in a very rainy place, but I don't feel the need to have it wedged or balanced against the driver's seat.
Theres just something doesnt sit right with me about it. Eg it could be a weapon/defence for his "jobs"; something to beat someone with; I also have a more sinister thought but it is too gross to post.
I personally feel a bit creeped out by it, but as I say, it's just my opinion.

Ya know, I bet if people who were in PDL at the time went through their photos, someone probably has this guy / that van in their photos. They probably don't go through them though b/c they probably don't realize he could be / it could be in the background somewhere in a photo they have. UGH...

so, back on the CB+VW Westfalia timeline. the photo by the beach has now given up:
location is a remote beach, not well signposted, not easy to find. not easy to access. it has camping, but is mainly used by surfers.
my take on that: not particularly family friendly location.

in the photo, it is sunny. and as previously mentioned, the waves are large. this describes surfing weather to me.

van is parked at the far end of the beach. is it a stretch to say... remote beach + surfers, fits well with someone wanting to sell drugs?

And steal stuff they might have left on the beach while they surf?

I think the problem is there are many places he's associated with but none of them did he actually reside in at the time. The Portuguese are going to want something more specific before they start digging all these sites up.

Another theory I have is that they do have some sort of video and they are trying to identify the location it was filmed, believing that the body will be found somewhere nearby to it.
