Madonna Adopts 13 Month Old Baby

I'm not even going to get started on her ridiculous accent. While I am sure she will love this boy and be a good mom, the fact remains that she disregarded the laws and was allowed to do so because of who she is and the money she has. She opened her wallet and all of a sudden Malawi let her do whatever she wanted to. There are so many people in the world who are patiently waiting and obeying the system in order to adopt a child. It is typically a very long and drawn out process. But not for Madonna of course.

The fake accent really is over the top, she's from Detroit for goodness sake. Over and over she repeated she did this to give the boy "a life." The kid would have had a life, just not a privileged one. I had to turn Oprah off, Madonna is truly the most hypocritical celebrity out there.

I can't wait for her children to see her coffee table book, Sex. God this woman makes my blood boil and she is not worth anymore of my time.

Yep and when they do, she can't turn it around and blame the Media. She wrote the book. She put her life out there for the world to see. And she alone will have to face her children when they see her for what she is!

I agree, I dislike Madonna greatly! She is indeed a hypocrite!

Looks like she's back in Malawi. Rumor is she's going to adopt another child. Is she in a competition with the Jolie-Pitts? ;)

In celebritities adopting kids. Let them. Most african orphanages are completely overwhelmed with orphans and the future looks bleak for most of them.

Mr. Banda's wife is dead, and he has lost 2 previous kids to disease. He is obviously unable to properly take care of the boy which is why he is in an orphanage.

These African countries have no way to take care of all the orphans and all the red tape one has to go through to adopt turns alot of people off of foreign adoptions. Until then these kids are stuck with nobody to call mom and Dad. It's sad.

I was wondering the same thing!!

I do admire those who adopt .... no matter if it's Jolie,
Madonna or some
"unknown" person like me.
It truly takes a good heart to really want to adopt a child and give the child a good life with lots of love, nurture and all the necessities.

Madonna may come off as a prude or fake or whatever, but behind closed doors, she may give her kids all the love in the world.

If people met me or saw me on a TV show, they would think I am cold, snobby and mean. I just don't like most people. But kids are a different story ... and animals. They are innocent and deserve love. Most people I meet and know are total a**holes and it's hardened me.
Maybe Madonna is similar?

I won't judge her, though ... she's got money and she's doing good things with it. I applaud that.

OK, I just went to youtube to watch Madonna on the Oprah show. I don't think her accent is necessarily fake.

My sister was stationed in the UK for years, and married a British citizen, and that's kind of what she sounds like. I think they both just picked up a little along the way.

Maybe she had a stroke, like the woman in this article, and that's why she's sounding different? ;)

LOL at the lady inthe article... I saw a show on Discovery health channel about her. Crazy, isnt it?

In Madonna's defense, my BIL spent 4 years in Kentucky in college (we live in CA) and he came back with an accent... so, it isn't impossible. :)

I think at her age of 47 it would be rather hard for her to adopt here in the usa. The laws here need to be changed, then maybe more people would adopt in our own country rather then going to china, or africa etc., becuase its easier and doesnt take as long.
Somewhere I had read Meg Ryan tried for 10 years here in the usa to adopt before going over to china to adopt her now daughter daisy.

This is definitely a cultural difference. We have friends who adopted from China, and several people on their trip were considered too old to adopt in the US. Interestingly, there were some couples looking into Chinese adoptions who knew they would never be able to conceive a biological child, and were told they were not old enough to adopt from China. Interesting.

I also think Madonna's accent may not be totally fake. My best friend growing up was born in England but raised here. Her parents have never lost their English accents. The British think she sounds American, but Americans think she sounds British. Actually, she sounds very similar to Madonna, now that I think about it.

And she did change a lot after she had kids. She became a lot less publicly visible and her music took on a different tone. I would hate to think that people were going to judge me for the rest of my life by how I behaved in my youth. She is nowhere near as obnoxious as a lot of celebrities. You hardly hear about her. She doesn't bug me nearly as much as the ones who are always inserting their 2 cents into politics, religion, medicine, and every other public issue.

Personally I doubt her adoption was any more irregular that any of Angelina's. Do you think none of her paperwork was ever walked through a little quickly? Please.
