BeeBee said:I'm wondering how long this thread will go on. A war is going on between Israel and Hezbolla and people are being killed as I write this. But, Mel Gibson and his mouth is the highlight. One thread was locked due to people getting a little carried away and guess what? Another thread was started.
My opinion is Mel screwed up. But man! Is this going to go on and on for as long as people can dig up crap on him and people jump at the chance to rip at him again? I was pretty upset with him when I first heard about it but now I just feel like "Give the guy a break."
And Idaho Mom,
If the women who were killed because they were Jewish had been Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler you can believe it would have been all over the news and here.
Have you ever read A Course in Miracles? It discusses a similar philosophy, though I found it to be a more "difficult" (ie, dense) read than the Conversation With God books.narlacat said:You really want an answer wind?
Ok I'll give it to you straight![]()
What we are is love, simply put.
We are a divine part of the divine whole, a member of the body.
We caused ourselves to forget who we are when coming to Earth, allowing us to choose and re-member who we are.
The act of rejoining the whole, of returning to God is called remembrance.
Our job on Earth is not to learn as such, it is to re-member who we really are.
And what we are is love, a little bit of All That Is.
For further enlightment try Conversations with God, it is my Bible and contains so much love and truth it will make you cry.
You ready![]()
Sorry everyone, but she asked![]()
So that is who Mel is too!
Old Broad said:I have been a fan of Mel Gibsons for many years. I'm disappointed he acted like he did but I'm not going to hang him for it either. Go to any bar and watch for one evening. You will hear things said and see things done that the next day when sobered up the offender will cringe when seeing if it were to be caught on tape. Not just against Jews but so many other ways to show ignorance (politics, age, gender, race, religion, size, looks, the list is non ending). I got burnt out a long time ago for going to bars because I disliked watching the drunks make fools of themselves. I am sure that in my younger years when I also drank I made a fool out of myself also!
In hearing about his father IMO it's not surprising that when drunk Mel would start talking like he did, it shows the importance parents have on their children! I'm sure Mel was taught from the beginning on how his father saw things. I am not saying these teachings were correct, just that Mel was exposed to a very slanted view during his development and when drunk these things came out.
I hope Mel is able to get help for his drinking, I also hope he never again gets behind the wheel when drunk!! I have driven down the highway where he was picked up and hate to think of anybody no matter who they are driving it to fast and drunk.
I am still a fan of Mel Gibson, and when he has another movie come out I will probably go to see it since I've enjoyed the other ones.

America rewards bad boys all day long...athletes, politicians getting reelected despite bad behavior, and so on.Floh said:BusinessWeek:
HOLLYWOOD'S BLIND EYE
talk to top Hollywood insiders, as I did recently, and while they're plenty upset by Gibson's behavior, none of them are particularly surprised by it. Gibson, says one, is "a misogynistic bully and anti-Semitic jerk, and we all knew it." But this source was also quick to point out, "his great value is that he always showed up on the set at 7 a.m. ready to work."??And he always makes money for the guys who run the studios. Which is why, when the hubbub dies down, Mel Gibson will likely be just as big a star as he was when he climbed into his 2006 Lexus for an evening of carousing at Moonshadows Malibu.

America may abhor a bad boy, but sometimes it also rewards him. Maybe that's the ultimate insult to our collective sensibilities

IMO it isn't just Hollywood. More like many of the wealthy reward their own for bad behavior. I feel like I see it all the time in NYC - the wealthy get away with sooo much more than the average folk. It saddens and disgusts me.shopper said:Hollywood always rewards their own for bad behavior.
