Vernon Grose, a seasoned National Transportation Safety Board investigator and consultant, told Fox News his preliminary assessment was that if the plane disintegrated, he would expect to find large pieces of wreckage, including the wings, the horizontal stabilizer in the tail and the vertical fin.

One of the objects reportedly spotted would be consistent with a jet's wing.

If this is the wreckage, Grose said the black boxes should be located in fairly short order.

The plane was not equipped with the technology to enable cell phone or Internet usage.

Also, this was a night flight. The majority of the people on board were probably sleeping. Whatever happened, happened fast. By the time anyone really knew what was going on, it would have been too late.

agreed.
They were just 1 minute into "cruising altitude"- anyone that has flown knows you rarely get the "you are free to move about the cabin, blah blah" until cruising is established for a few.

No cell towers and the plane was not equipped with capability for cell phones to work.

But I do have a question, do planes still have phones on the seats you can with a credit card to use? Like on United 93 during 9/11.

No. At least not on any of the planes I've flown on in the last 6 years. I have flown on 767's, 747's, and 777's, and there hasn't been those types of phones on them. No built-in phones at all.

I am not familiar with the exact layout of the Malaysia Airlines 777, but if it's like the one I flew on, there wouldn't have been phones in the seats.

Erin Burnett (CNN) just said Malaysia has not been given the images by China yet, per Malaysian government.

I WOULD HOPE SOMEONE IS ON THEIR WAY TO THE COORDINATES INDICATED IN THE IMAGES.

The word cluster**** comes to mind. Makes you wanna scream!!

Where's a project executive when you need one? Someone needs to get in charge and coordinate everything!

Umm...

Exactly.
The plane isn't even fully leveled out when it reaches cruising altitude. You usually have to wait 5-10 minutes before they announce that you can move around the cabin and take off your seat belt if you want.

"...Late Mar 12th 2014 China's State Administration of Science (SASTIND) reported, they discovered three large objects sized 13x18, 14x19 and 24x22 meters at position N6.7 E105.63 (121nm eastsoutheast of the last known secondary radar position), all three objects within a radius of 20km (11nm) and published the satellite images, taken on Mar 9th 2014 at 11:00 Beijing time (03:00Z), see below. SASTIND stated they are committed to provide further search services to locate flight MH-370..." http://www.avherald.com/h?article=4710c69b&opt=0

If true, this is huge news and a step back in the search. Please provide a link for proof.

I was not OP but Erin Burnett, CNN, was interviewing a man who was former Director of NTSB Safety division and he said this. Not sure what the laws are relating how big or small plane pieces should be. Just gave to wait and see. I would imagine a transcript of the show will soon be available.

Surely it all depends on the final moments.

Hijack remains an option at this stage.

Sunrise in Malaysia is about 5 minutes away.

Former Director NTSB on CNN said the measurements are too big for a 777. He doesn't think it is part of the plane.
This was live so no link yet.

Or equipment failure. If the transponder short circuited or for whatever reason quit functioning and the plane was in a dangerous area with no way to identify itself, that could lead to a very, very, very big problem.

BOEING EXPERTS STATE 13x18, 14x19 and 24x22 (meters) WOULD NOT BE OF A BROKEN UP 777 in ocean

did they say Why it wouldn't be?

I have read that the wing span of a Boeing 777-200ER is 60.9 meters(199ft11in) (60.9 m) and it's overall length is 63.7 meteres (209ft1 in) and its Tail height is 18.5 meters(60 ft 9 in)

i just heard the expert on CNN

He said it it wouldn't be the plane because airplane pieces that large would not float they would sink...

He may be correct but I hold out hope that they are pieces of the plane..

Until a few weeks ago, Nourmohammadi’s Facebook page seemed much like that of any other 19-year-old. It has posts on cars, girls and video clips of youth poking fun at those in authority. But as he approaches his departure from Iran, his posts turn more cryptic, the youthful cheerfulness dims. Nourmohammadi knew he was taking a big risk: he asked friends to pray for him the night before he left. After he went through Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s passport control, he posted: “Thanks to all of those who prayed for me, I’m safe.”

ok morning all, on to it again.....have just watched our nine oclock news here and this is what they have said:

they have shown the pictures from the chinese as per above and have said that ships are being sent there.

they said about the nzer on the oil rig and what he saw and that searchers were being sent there as well

they gave the fuselage theory....

so nothing new.

I have to say that those photos look like they could be a plane to me, and isn't this around the area where the 8 villagers saw a low flying plane???

I have to say that if anyone hasn't read that aviation journal that a few have posted a few pages back, please do....great information and a good summary...

I'll post it again..

Now what about this body on a raft????? a troll posting??.....I mean wow that alone, if it is unrelated is out there...

Also in this avherald I am posting: One report we all missed is the reports that it landed at Nanning airport.......that of course has been shown to be false, but didn't hear that one....

I am glad they mention the chinese man who didn't book on the flight and yet his passport no. was used.....they never did give us an outcome as to how that happened.

If this is a crash due to something with the aircraft....then boy oh boy: some of these airlines and airports better up the anti with their security and checking passports thoroughly after this!!!
