"Alright, good night" and then they fell off radar? :sigh: Does that mean they were switching over to the next traffic controllers? Sounds like they weren't planning to speak to them again that night.

Oh yea they all get bumped along all over the place! They go from ground conrol to departure control then get bumped to the folks who are handling all the aircraft at cruise, then if long flight one cruise center bumps em to the next cruise center then bumped over to arrival guys and then when on runway given back to airport controllers!!!!! Basically!!

It just astounds me that we get almost no new info during their daytime hours.

.............. with today’s events I am starting to wonder if it is even worth watching any news conference on this mess!! The next news conference undoes the previous news conference which undid the prior news conference which disagreed with the earlier press conference that was disputed in the conference before the conference of the conference which was held after the conference of conferences!!

I notice he has two pictures - one references someone on an oil rig and the other references the letter. I'm assuming this is the same person - or do we have two sitings in that area?

No, this is the same person (McKay). The red X is the approximate location of the wreckage spotted from the rig (blue pin).

:floorlaugh: Every time a new timeline comes out I wonder, which timeline is this?

Like trying to work a puzzle with some of the pieces on the floor or hiding in the couch cushions. :(

Not very motivating.

I tried, but the map kept having trouble coming up. My laptop is overloaded with photos. Maybe that's why...

Have just read the letter from the NZer on the oil rig and seen the excellent maps you guys have done....that is definitely an option, but once again how did it then disappear from all communication from where it was last tracked to?

Re the last words: I also agree that it sounds like something was about to change to go into a cruisy night maybe on autopilot or turn some form of communication of and saying bye bye to them, or switching to new air traffic control thingys. You sought of get what I'm trying to say don't you?

Does anyone know if that was immediately before they lost contact??? was just wondering as this might not be a coincidence in that maybe whatever they switched to had a problem with it and this is why the contact was lost, or had a problem and this is what caused the problem that led to a crash...

According to cnn, they're getting a million hits an hour, hence the technical overload.

I'm optimistic tomnod could be key in helping find this plane. They found that other plane not too long ago.

So the updates (last I heard, plane had turned around and flown hundreds of miles off course to Malacca Strait), is that the plane had not turned around and that a man saw the plane on fire, crash into the sea? If so, why didn't he immediately contact any authorities, instead of waiting for days? (He seems credible, though).

Any other updates? What about news about the cell phones ringing?
Or about sightings of a plane flying at low altitude? Or of other info that the plane flew at 3,000 feet for 350 miles?

Are these all crazy rumors that people are spreading for fun? What's up?

Not that I can find. He just says he believes he saw the wreckage--that "the timing is right." Also that he tried to contact officials several days ago but didn't hear back.

Incidentally, the last time I tried to access the letter via Twitpic, seems it had been removed. I have it saved to my computer, though.

If anyone knows what up please tell the government agencies involved cause none of them seem to!

Now that the military has denied tracking the plane to the west, have they also cancelled plans to intensify the search in that direction?
I believe they denied saying it. That is not the same as it didn't happen. The search has been extended to the Andaman Sea. That says it all.
