This is super serious. I'm worried.

Again I totally agree, I'm nauseous because of how serious I think this is... :please:

But why did the plane fly into the area?

I'm guessing hijacking but time will tell...

Nothing from Malaysian Airlines twitter for the past hour, though every news station in the world is reporting the aircraft has crashed.

It is a known aircraft corridor, they were under air tower control, flying a route hundreds of planes a day fly. As there had been nothing but ground skirmishes it seems no warnings not to fly had been sent out. Look at the aircraft radar map CNN has up at times, it shows about 30 planes in the same area

Chills. Let the conspiracy theories begin. Prayers for the loved ones. This is so sad.

The urgent assistance numbers are up on Malaysian Airline's site, which is collapsing due to traffic. I don't know how much help they'll be though. And I'm sincerely hoping none of our WSers need them.

For urgent assistance, please contact our 24-hour call centre.

Within Malaysia

Nobody should be flying in that area since there is fighting going on.

Yes, I just saw pic's of wreckage on CNN. Truly awful.
And scary. I hope the US isn't going to get involved, but we usually do.

How was it only ground skirmishes if there was a transport plane shot down in the area recently?
