Apparently CBS and some others have posted photos of wreckage - according to a pilots forum I'm reading, those are not photos of Boeing wreckage, but likely the plane shot down earlier this month. I've also just seen one being circulated which is a photoshop from the opening scenes of Lost. So just a reminder to take any video/photos of the scene with some caution at this point.

This is scary. Really scary. Gut feeling is the missing flight is connected.

RIP to all on board.

No, it would not be common nor a nickname for most - my opinion - unless he happened to be a Christian Malaysian, from the UK/Australia/etc. living in or a citizen of Malaysia. Due to their hiring practices, most would have Arabic names.

I think Parker is the teddybear's name!?

First Ukraine sepratists admitted they were trying to shoot down a Ukrain military supply jet.

Now we know it was this Malaysia Airlines.

Now the sepratists are denying they shot the airline down and blaming the Ukraine government.

They admitted to shooting down a military supply jet, not just to trying. Which they did shoot down. And they didn't admit to shooting down Malaysia Airlines plane. So we don't know now, because they never admitted to it. Passenger plane would have been flying much higher than a military plane.

I am a big follower of international things , military etc. and also a big giant fan of conspiracy theories of all kinds :) :) and one thing conspiracy theorists and avid followers of politics all agree on ........ there are NO coincidences. So when you find yourself saying ' wow , what are the odds?' , it's time to back up and re evaluate. Something else is going on here.

Absolutely.

Russia Today says it has on the scene footage; I would advise anyone of sensitive disposition not watch, or to seek out still images on Twitter, as many clearly show bodies.

Msnbc on air reporting the FAA prohibited US airlines from flying in this area back in April. So did we get intelligence that something like this would happen back in April? Jmt

ciao

Ukraine statement on abc live stream is saying it was shot down by a Russian buck? missile and would provide proof that Russia is responsible.

Looking at the still photographs (I apologize for the graphic nature of this question), the bodies look intact...what do you experts say about how high up the plane was traveling (10K or 30K) and how did the missile bring the plane down?

as per cnn, separatists are denying Ukraine access to crash site for investigative purposes (or any at all purpose)

"As huge plumes of black smoke rose up near a village in eastern Ukraine, the fate of the passengers aboard the plane wasn’t immediately known.

Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, said on his Facebook page the plane was flying at an altitude of 10,000 metres when it was hit by a missile fired from a Buk launcher. A similar launcher was seen by Associated Press journalists near the eastern Ukrainian town of Snizhne earlier Thursday. The Buk missile system can fire missiles up to an altitude of 22,000 metres.

Malaysia Airlines said on its Twitter feed that it “has lost contact of MH17 from Amsterdam. The last known position was over Ukrainian airspace. More details to follow.”

Unverified footage posted to YouTube appeared to show smoke from the crash billowing up from a field."

I believe it is a matter of time until Russia will be blamed for this event. If not directly, indirectly for supplying the missiles to do it. That with Putin reopening the intelligence center in Cuba, IMO Putin is trying to pick a fight.

Wow. And just what threat was a passenger plane to the Ukraine ? Cowards. SMH

Some bodies look intact... intact bodies were found after Lockerbie too, some still in seats. It will depend how the plane broke up. It does look as if there are some big pieces of wreckage.

I am going to revise my thoughts from earlier. Yes, this is something which could start some sort of wider conflict...I had not considered the nationalities aboard the flight, which was my mistake. Depending on which country lost souls, there may indeed be some serious repercussions...at the very least, some countries will demand answers, and this time, I believe, there have been so many eyes/monitors available because of Putin's take over of Crimea and because of the Ukraine war (and it is a war, whether or not it's been declared). There are MANY eyes on that area, so there should be some real information forthcoming.

Apparently, there were 20ish Americans on board.

And also, while we're grieving and being upset, we must remember that Russia (at the time, it was USSR, iirc), and we, the US, have shot down commercial airliners, on accident (and I believe another country did, too, but I can't recall which).

Prayers for all aboard, and for all leaders of countries to keep a calm head. There are enough flashpoints around the world right now, we don't need another one.
