This incident coincides with the 18th anniversary of the crash of TWA Flight 800. The Boeing 747 was traveling from New York to Paris when it exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean nine miles off the coast of New York on July 17, 1996. The crash killed all 230 passengers and crew.

With this incident, it was confirmed it was shot down.
With MH370, no one wants to come forward as being responsible for shooting down the plane (if indeed that's what happened with that one).
Very weird, nonetheless.

This is a really stupid thing to do. I hope the UN takes this act and uses it as a reason to send troops into Ukraine to wipe out the separatists.

I also think that nobody is taking credit for it because it was a mistake. They wanted to shoot down another Ukrainian military plane and they misidentified the passenger jet. If they meant to hit a passenger jet then they are really, really stupid. I hadn't heard about the military plane that was shot down earlier this week in Ukrainian air space until this happened. Now the world is going to be looking A LOT more closely at the situation there now. JMO

Per State Department spokesperson, there were reportedly 23 U.S. citizens aboard this flight. They don't have any further info on these people. More to come later when they do receive more facts.

Spokesperson just said per the manifest, 23 list U.S. as their home. But no other info about U.S. citizens possibly on board.

It didn't.
MH370 was enroute from KL to Beijing. The flight path was traced in the earlier MH370 threads.
It wouldn't have flown anywhere near Russia or Ukraine.

Putin = Hitler in my opinion. They don't have concentration camps for undesirables yet, but they're probably coming. Putin is doing the same thing Hitler did when he started taking over countries. Hitler said he was just taking over countries that had a German majority. Putin has said he wants countries that have a Russian majority.

As I understand it Putin yearns for the days of the Soviet Union and I think he's trying to get all of the countries in the Soviet Union again. Crimea was first because, IIRC, they are the supplier of oil for the Russians.

I've also heard that Putin is extremely popular in Russia.
