yes but they would have needed to make an effort to get there, staff knocked off at 7pm.
I cannot remember time family went asleep, was it around 10pm or something?
Family had not been in public view for long enough to have been noticed much.
Did somebody drive up that steep hill in first gear, for traction, just to take a child?
In the dark?
leaving no trace?
Non residents were not encouraged to visit the place.
It wasn't like a hotel with a public bar.
20 residents max in 7 different houses or as many as were occupied at the time?
I'm not seeing it because it makes no sense , none whatsoever.
None of this does.
Not even a bit.
It is utterly surreal.
No suspect.
No coherence, a dead child who walked 1.6 miles over a 7 day period..
I don't even know what the possibilities are.
My primary theory is that she left the cabin on her own to explore the jungle and was soon thereafter taken by people who she encountered there who kept her unharmed until she succumbed to stress and starvation, then returned her body to where it was found

It's possible, of course.
But what was the actual likelihood of anybody at all, apart from the guests being anywhere within any distance she is likely to have been able to travel?
Why would any person be there , at night?
I'm missing that whole chapter.

I am finding it very hard to believe anything these parents say.
I can understand them saying anything at all in order to procure an inquest.
I just don't see any factual evidence though.

I'm kind of thinking along the same lines. I have it in my head that someone local with deep spiritual beliefs and possibly special needs of their own may have encountered and been fascinated by Nora. (I hope this isnt offensive to local culture.) Looked after her, but didn't actually, and she died. Locals or at least the person's family aware. Shaman makes prediction. Nora taken to resting place.

But this would require huge coincidences and leaps. Nora leaving the house inexplicably. Nora managing to walk alone for at least a short while. The chance encounter. Being taken somewhere. A safe place to hide her.

Its far fetched but everything is to me in this case.

It wasn't night, it was early morning - probably the most magical time of day for the rainforest. The Dusun is located right beside the Jelebu national park among other resorts and a Hindu temple. There are plenty of reasons for people to be there, even ones with no special interest in white people.

She was last seen at 10pm.
She was first missed at 8am following morning.?

I’m trying to remember - was Nora nonverbal?

Thanks for this. I think possibly it may start to explain the confusion about Nora's walking ability. According to the article the family liaison was told she couldn't walk far unaccompanied by family. This might suggest more of an emotional reassurance rather than physical need? With assistance there if she wanted it. Hence how they could plan the trek to the waterfall.

Bringing this over from Thread One - the info re Nora's sister talking about the window

Local police chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said information from one of the girl’s two siblings suggested no crime had taken place.

He said: “A search of the girl’s room at the resort did not turn up any evidence of a criminal element in her disappearance.

“The victim’s sister noticed that one of the windows in the room was opened on the morning she went missing, and believes Nora had gone out the window herself.

obvious question, why were they visiting 3 houses in a nearby resort? What time?
Were the houses occupied?
who saw them, who did they meet Bananas.

edit to throw in another q, how did they travel to resort 2?
Did they have a vehicle rented for their vacation?
How did they travel to resort from airport, if not?
Perhaps they visited because the houses were touristic, just outside the main entrance of the compound and where local stuff could be observed and souvenirs could be bought?

Why don't they specify at the hearing?
Perhaps because it's obvious?

Just repeating as I’m not sure how it can be wrapped up this week- we have now heard from seven of the 64 witnesses!!!!

I remember first reports said the inquest would run until September 18 - but later ones said it would finish on September 4.
If they are going with Sept 4, then could some of the testimony still to be heard be done via witness statements ? which possibly won't take as long.

Oh okay so maybe not houses to stay in but places like a communal laundry in one perhaps?

We now know that Nora's mother had just joined the family after being away on a business street. So Nora hadn't seen her in several days. It seems so strange that if Nora had woken up in an unfamiliar place she wouldn't have just gone to her parents.
Maybe physically she couldn't because of stairs or because of twisting door knobs for instance?

Anything is possible and everything is possible.
Not getting out of bed while at home and in a new place with deer nearby are entirely different situations.

It looks like a door though.
