It's not floor level on the outside and the drop looks bigger than the inside. I think it would have been quite difficult for Nora to manage.

Nora Quoirin's window 'was broken so could have been opened from outside'

Was the door handle/door tested for finger prints?

Resort owner Haanim Bamadhaj, who gave evidence via video conference, said Nóra’s parents had told her the teenager only had on her underwear when she went missing and that she would hide when she was frightened.

Recalling the night, Ms Haanim, whose house faces the Quoirins’ cottage, said it was peaceful and that her dog, who would bark if there were outsiders, was also quiet.

She acknowledged that a window of the cottage that was found ajar the morning Nóra disappeared was faulty and could be opened from the outside. But she said there have never been any criminal break-ins in her property since it opened for business 11 years ago.

Nóra had poor motor skills and needed help to walk and her mental age was about five or six years old, her parents said in the lawsuit.

Was the door handle/door tested for finger prints?
The window that was open had fingerprints lifted from it- it was a big thing that fizzled away quickly. It was implied by the press they were fingerprints of an intruder- but I think possibly turned out to be someone either within the family or the resort staff

I think it might just have been a pair of knickers, so a bit of a needle in a haystack especially if they weren’t a bright colour. Plus an animal might have run away with them.
Probably some kind of top too but I see what you mean.

I cannot for the life of me envisage a scenario whereby she was taken by any person.
alarm was raised at 8am.
How heavily populated is this area, really?
How far could she have wondered if reports about her abilities are accurate? IF.

Like other people have mentioned, the place is a danger zone for children. Just so many possibilities for accidents.
I just cannot see a stranger taking Nora for any reason at all.
I doubt I ever will.
It's just so strange--she would have screamed.

She was only wearing pants
It's said "underwear" which probably meant a top too. Hard to picture a teenager sleeping with siblings not wearing something on top too.

I am finding it very hard to believe anything these parents say.
They visited 3 houses! haven't seen that mentioned before, I wonder why.

I am maybe the only one who doesn't see a mystery here.

We have a girl whose parents underestimate her. They claim she can't walk unassisted, but clearly she can. They say she is shy and doesn't leave their side... but it's also possible that they don't allow her to have much independence. That is, they are the ones who don't leave her side, and not the other way around.

The girl loves waterfalls. She takes a trip to a place with a waterfall. She's so looking forward to seeing it that when she wakes in the night, she heads out to find it. Her jet-lagged family doesn't hear her.

She gets lost, and dies of starvation. She's found in a place that is said to be in "dense jungle" but which takes able-bodied people 10 minutes to get to from the resort. It took her a week to get there.

She wasn't assaulted, sexually or otherwise. It took what, a week to find her? She kept moving around during that time, trying to get out, or to find the waterfall. Poor kid.

You are definitely not alone in feeling this way.

I feel for Nora's parents, I really do. The second-guessing and questioning they must be doing, and the guilt they must feel must be overwhelming. Any scenario, even the thought of a stranger killing Nora might be preferable to them than the thought that maybe they could have done something differently that would have led to a different outcome. Note: I don't believe they could have but they might.

It was also said she was proud of knowing some French as well as English.

IIRC, articles state that she had the mental capacity of a 5 or 6 year old.

Most English-speaking people are fluent in their home language between ages 3 & 4. If one (or both) parents are also fluent in French, she could easily have been bilingual.

In the group feeling oh-so-sorry for this family, and everyone else involved!

I wouldn't speculate on how she would have responded because I simply do not know enough about her, some people freeze, some scream

This is all speculation.

I recall it being discussed here back when Nora went missing about online TA reviews for the resort stating items that went missing from client's property including one man who lost iirc his laptop and camera from his property. So how do you define criminal break-ins then? Those that are not 'inside jobs'? Obviously the reviews that were discussed were just that, just reviews and alleged reviews at that, online. Who knows if they were true or not? JMO MOO

Most thefts from hotels and resorts are by staff.

On Tuesday an inquest heard that a post-mortem ruled Nora died from internal bleeding in her intestine following a period of prolonged hunger and stress.

Giving evidence, head of forensics, Noor Aidora Saedon, told the coroner Maimoonah Aid that Nora had taken her last breath four days before she was found by hikers helping police search.

The inquest has been told that an autopsy was performed less than an hour after her body was airlifted from the stream, according to The Mirror. Ms Saedon told the hearing during the 10-day search for Nora, DNA samples were taken from her siblings Innes and Maurice and her parents Meabh and Sebastien for comparison.

The parents of Nora Quoirin who was found dead in a Malaysian jungle told police that the teen ‘could not walk 20ft on her own’ an inquest has heard.

A police chief who was involved in the huge search for the 15-year-old told a coroner that Nora’s parents informed them that the teen would not be able to go far from them on her own.

Based on the information provided by her parents, police concluded that Nora would ‘not be able to go beyond 20ft on foot when on her own

During the police operation, the inquest heard that 20 individuals and 16 vehicles were inspected at roadblocks.

Elsewhere, 25 homes and four vehicles were searched in the surrounding areas.

Instead, the chief suggested that Nora climbed out of her window due to a faulty lock and managed to get out of the complex due to an ‘incomplete’ fence.

Nora’s family have watched the proceedings over Zoom and have always maintained that they do not believe their daughter would have wandered off alone.
