Man jailed 10 years for coward punch which killed a surgeon

Completely disgusted. 10 years is no where near long enough.
The man who killed a Melbourne heart surgeon after an argument over smoking will spend at least 10 years in jail after becoming the first person sentenced under Victoria's one-punch laws.

Key points:

• Joseph Esmaili is the first person to be sentenced under 2014 one-punch killer laws that impose a 10-year non-parole period
• He punched a surgeon after he was asked to stop smoking outside Box Hill Hospital
• Surgeon Patrick Pritzwald-Stegmann died in hospital a month later

Joseph Esmaili was sentenced to 10 years and six months' jail, and the one-punch legislation means he will not be eligible for parole until serving 10 years.

The 24-year-old punched Patrick Pritzwald-Stegmann in the head at Box Hill Hospital, in Melbourne's east, in May 2017.

but at least he must serve the full ten years. Ten years in the US means maybe 6, less with good behavior, etc.
