I like chiant. Next time I go spend $30 on a bottle of it I will tell the person at the counter "Peter Brendt told me this should be cheaper....now go get the owner and we will discuss the new price of this bottle"

Really? You pay $30 for a bottle of Chianti? :floorlaugh:

Yeah. The kind I drink cost about $30 a bottle. Cannot get it cheaper than that anywhere. Its a Ruffino. Thats with a case discount price.

I like wine, scotch, cigars, expensive coffee and some other misc items. I wish I did not because I would be a very wealthy man.

I remember, you are on the East Coast, so how far is Albany from you? Empire Wine has the Ruffino Chianti for about $5 plus taxes, just fyi.

http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/ruffino+chianti

excuse me for butting in. Maybe this site can help.

Cool! And even a few cents cheaper than I remembered ... of course, now I have no idea where those other places are on the East Coast. And since Ruffino has only one Chianti, I think, it's a safe bet, it's the same wine, the grocery sells for $30 to LiNative. Maybe one of those NYC relabeling scams?

We have Liquor stores here. Ruffino has a bunch of different chiantis out. I have seem them as cheap as $10 and up to $50 a botttle.

I also like Sant Margarita Pinot Girgio.....I pay $25 a bottle for that. Would you like to fire a torpedo into that ship as well?

And here more from the category of "useless knowledge":

Some "wines", you should run from if you ever get them offered in Europe. Especially since they are not really what you would understand as "wine".

Vino Bretterknall - because of it's high octane also popular with crahs cars. The name translates to "the wine that smacks you with a wooden board over the head". Mostly cheap Lambruscos propped up with all kinds of potato booze.

Cote d'Aral - Aral is an oil company and it had involuntary given it's names for some very "aromatic" wines. Most of them are just blended with a little liquid sugars and some chemicals to cover up that fact, which belongs to the chemical family of aromates. Well technically, gasoline is also in that family, so here we go with drinking something as near to gas as possible without permanent damage.

Wiener Widerling - Austrian white of an especial sour quality. Trust me, there is a difference between "dry" and "sour" and that one is on the wrong side. The nickname translates to something like "Repug from Vienna", but the stuff can hit you also in other Austrian cities and occasionally also in South-Eastern parts of Germany.

... I could continue that list. There are some scary things out there ... (couldn't find a "creeped out" smiley, sorry).

Next time I hangout with my gf I will get a box of wine. Then I'll have to look for a new gf.

If your gf left you over a box of wine, she's a materialistic dbag and you should definitely find a new gf. JMO ;)

Last thread so far off track...I think it got buried in Mozzerella!
Seriously though I agree we should get back to the topic at hand. Thank you Scandi!
