MM asking some questions that Otterstatter either doesn't know or doesn't have the answer handy. She didn't know if certain fibers weather the same.

Coming to the end of her testimony and now witness off stand.

It was mind numbing for me, but maybe some jurors members got more out of it.

Mark Sievers' Defense Attorney Michael Mummert is now cross examining Otterstatter.

The known sample was the jumpsuit recovered on the side of the road in Missouri.

Otterstatter did not receive any other coveralls for examinations in the case, she said. Mummert said two other coveralls were admitted into evidence the case.

Mummert asked Otterstatter to check if any dog or cat hairs were recovered in the trace evidence. She did not find any dog or cat hairs on the coveralls recovered on the side of the road in Missouri, Otterstatter said.

Mummert asked Otterstatter to explain how fibers can be weathered.

Mummert asks if Otterstatter would expect to see a difference between fibers exposed to outside conditions and fibers not exposed. Maybe, maybe not, Otterstatter said.

That's all the questions for Otterstatter and she is released from the witness stand.

The next witness is FBI analyst, Sherri Fentress, also testified Tuesday. Fentress said she conducted Mitochondrial DNA testing on certain items from the Teresa Sievers homicide investigation.

Fentress is walking jurors through what Mitochondrial DNA testing is using a power point.

We're to the second (and final I believe) FBI witness, this one on specific DNA. It's a second VERY detailed section of testimony. (This poor court reporter trying to spell these types of DNA coming up..)

I'm guessing the next witness testimony will be just as *exciting*. Is this #2 of the 6 remaining for the State's side?

I think it's 2 of 5.

very dry testimony. Hope the jury is following.

I don’t understand why they are still trying to convince the jury that JRR and CWW committed a murder. I feel like they could have just given the obvious statement that the crime occurred and the two perpetrators have been convicted. And left that at that. I think they forgot who is on trial.

But, but, but...those two men did it and we already know Mark wasn't there. He hired them. Can you prove that?

How many times is she going to say mitochondrial DNA? Sorry, I lost track of why we are talking about this.

I think they have proved that CWW and JRR did it........They better connect Mark to it pretty quickly.... cuz right now he's just looking like a doodler at the defense table. If they don't start connecting ... off of what is just going on in THIS courtroom, i'd not put him away for life. And can i tell you how horrible i feel having to post that.

It's INSANE. That's why I am sitting on my hands. So mad its best I not speak at all.

The ONLY scenario I can come up with is that they are trying to prove that all the crime scene evidence points to CWW being truthful therefore the jury should believe his word that MS hired him. That's my glass half full attempted at this mess.

Completely missed this trial until today! Has CWW testified yet?

Mitochondrial DNA sequence is shared between maternal relatives, Fentress said.

Fentress is talking about buccal swabs, or DNA evidence, taken from Jimmy Ray Rodgers. Hairs recovered in the Sievers homicide investigation were compared to the DNA taken from Rodgers.

A hair recovered from the coveralls found on the side of the roadway in Missouri was compared to the DNA sample taken from Rodgers, Fentress said.

Fentress performed Mitochondrial DNA testing on the hair from the coverall recovered on the side of the road in Missouri to and the DNA sample taken from Rodgers.

The testing revealed the DNA sequences were the same, and Rodgers could not be excluded as the source of the hair on the blue jumpsuit, Fentress said.

Find the most monotone prosecutor and have him ask the most dry, scientific questions...

Item 32-1 is a hair that was found on the coveralls found on the side of the roadway. It might match JRR buccal swab.

Ah-ha, I think JRR was at the crime scene. I'm still asking-- What's Mark got to do with any of this? Hello, Mark is the person on trial. Someone tell the State.

MM asks if she can tell how long the hair has been there. Nope, she can't.

MM's jerky arm movements like he's about to start conducting an orchestra annoy me. He should get a suit in a bigger size.
