BRAINTREE – Jabrill Peppers, New England Patriots safety and team captain, was arrested Saturday on charges that include strangulation and drug possession after an incident in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Braintree police announced Peppers' arrest on Monday.

Police said there was an altercation between two people at a home that led to Peppers' arrest.

He is expected to be charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B drug that police believe was cocaine.

The victim was treated at the scene, police said.
