I actually think the competitive philanthropy is worse than the distraction. I'm curious if it truly is a competitive move or could it possibly be a strategic move from both sides?

I'm probably a bad one to ask this as I just automatically think JS cringes at this kind of stuff.... or maybe finds it amusing. I'm very open to being wrong on that, it's just difficult and messy to think he was really a part of it all.

But, your question made me wonder if JS is caught in an odd spot since AS was named in the lawsuit. I still think it's some possibility that AS was set up to take the fall (or maybe just confuse things ... which might have been successful already).

I can't see DRS had that much publicity out of this (although I don't know why it's worth any publicity) and I think she has her own PR machine of sorts or the YMCA in this case. Not that I think JS wants to see any of this go forward since it seems he just wants to move on.

I disagree about how much publicity Dina received from the donation. Google Dina's name and you will see just how many different outfits published or are talking about her donation.

Whether or not JS has anything to hide, I agree JS wants to move on. All of this happened in his home, his children, his girlfriend, his brother and his ex wife. Which is why I believe JS is assisting AS with his legal representation and most importantly likely offering the Zahau's a settlement. JS is the only person with enough money to make the WDS go away for all 3. In my opinion, JS only wants to help his brother and himself. Unfortunately for JS, helping his brother includes helping the twins.

I think Adam was complicit in murdering RZ and THAT'S why he is on the WDS. I think that Dina, in her resentment and smoldering rage helped. I think that Nina knew something was going down and did not stop it.

I went to Maxie's House Facebook page and the web site and couldn't find anything about a Halloween fundraiser this year. From last year's photos on FB, it looked like it was pretty successful--well attended and lots of fun for families together.

Has anyone seen anything about one for this year?

I'm not arguing you are wrong, because it could be. But could it be that DS knew about JS's philanthropy. I don't see what it would gain JS anyway, but to me, it kind of makes DS look worse that it was on the same day. That could be because I am jaded.

I don't think Dina got that much coverage. All of the articles are the same article as far as I have found and say "Copyright 2013 CBS 5 (KPHO Broadcasting Corporation). All rights reserved." Written by Phil Benson. Phoenix Arizona.

And, as you can see several of those are in small markets and certainly some in areas where people would have no idea who she is although it 'appears' to make an internet splash. These are small potatoes to me.

Thinking about it though, I have no idea why some (online) news in places like Portland, or Amarillo, or Evansville would have any interest in running a story about someone donating some undisclosed amount to the YMCA in Phoenix for a vague purpose of helping to furnish with toys and furniture.

Interesting, and I would say YES! I wouldn't doubt she could have had it already to go, the press release written to be given to a 'journalist'. MaxInMotion donated around this time last year although I think it was in November. Curious about the timing, it could be that something appeared about MIM donation coming - like emails sent the day before or early that day?

I still am not sure why any paper would run the story on Dina donating unless she asked them to as it it so vague what kind and amount of help her money is even giving. It just looks too much like a promo piece for Dina and for MH instead of more about the YMCA project.

These kinds of competing PR stunts are sad. Both parties disgust me, very cold-hearted, self-centered, greedy people. JMO

What is very interesting to me is that this donation was phrased in the article as apparently from Dina as an individual-- not from Dina as a representative of Maxie's House. The brief article separates the 2 issues in the discussion, and the mention of Maxie's House is almost an after thought. The focus is clearly on Dina as the giver-- not her nonprofit. Either way, I hope it was a generous donation, as Dina can afford to be very generous, IMO. I hope it was at least $5000 or more-- that would go a long way for a program like the YMCA kids care programs.

A Valley mother whose 6-year-old son died at his father's California mansion last year has honored his memory by helping the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA in Phoenix to complete its Amazing Kids Center.

Shacknai's donation will allow the branch to complete the area with furnishings, toys and other essential items.

You're correct, as of now the donation does not appear first in a internet search. If you googled her name on Oct. 10th and the week after, her donation was the first returned search. It also depends on your search settings. You can search by the last 24hrs, 1 week, etc...I did not have to enter YMCA the week Dina made her donation. A Google search on Dina Shacknai returned stories on her donation. That is how I found out about the donation.

No, there is no publicity about a 2nd Annual Halloween Party for 2013.

It seems that Maxie's House is in a "quiet" phase. Nothing new has been posted on the website, and no fundraisers have been promoted for many months now (9 months, or so). The last relevant activity appears to be the posting of the video promoting the parental disclosure proposal, from Feb 17, 2013, with 500-ish views on YouTube. If Dina plans to pursue the parental disclosure proposal for a bill that she promoted in the August Phoenix Magazine interview, she will have to ramp up a bit in advance of the next AZ Legislative session, IMO. (But I assume there are possibly more pressing matters than Maxie's House to attend to at present, with the wrongful death lawsuit. JMO.)
