MD - Child Rapist Goes Free Because Court Can't Find Interpreter

  • #21
AFTER reading that newest article, IMHO, this judge is WRONG, and there's much more going on in this family than this man MOLESTING CHILDREN! They need to deport the lot of 'em!:furious:

This case is NOT going to go away! You mark my word, should Bill O'Reilly get hold of this, that judge is going to wish she never made that ehh, 'difficult decision.'

She was wrong. The guy's a menace to society, so is his mom and the other guy too!

Save our children! Send them back where they came from.

"The fact is on four separate occasions this court provided Vai interpreters," McCarthy said, adding that one of the interpreters had agreed to participate in further proceedings.
Court records, meanwhile, show that an interpreter was "sworn" by a Maryland court on the same day Savage dismissed the case, FOXNews.com has learned.
Loretta Knight, a clerk with the court system in Montgomery County, Md., claimed she had been unable to find an interpreter to stay on the case, even after an exhaustive search that included the Liberian Embassy and courts in 47 states.
But a look at the court docket for July 17, the day the case was dismissed, shows the entry "Interpreter sworn.” Several items below in the docket, Judge Savage “grants defendant’s oral motion to dismiss case based on a speedy trial violation.”
A review by FOX News of the audio from that hearing shows, however, that an interpreter was present throughout the entire court proceeding, during which time Kanneh's lawyer, Theresa Chernosky, argued that her client had not been able to get a good job because of unresolved rape charges.
Chernosky is heard also telling Savage that her client works at a gas station, and has not signed up for school because of the uncertainty about his future.
The translator can be heard throughout the entire hearing.

Well what the heck! Let's just let them all walk out of court without any consequenses for pity sake. Did the judge think that this guy would never rape little children again? And what is all of this b.s. about not being able to find an interputer when one was in court the whole time and a new one had just been sworn in?

Like others said...if this guy attended school here and then went to college he sure as heck can understand english. We are talking about years of being in school. In order to understand the subjects he must have taken in college he has to understand the english language and what words mean.

Maybe the family of this child should file a lawsuit on this predator. At least sue him for enough money to see that the child has therapy for as long as she needs it. This is just Bull Chit.

It really is. I am very interested in hearing some answers to questions the article raises about this Judge's decision.

I thought judges are elected officials, is thsi right or not? If they are elected, this one needs to be disbarred immediately and the decisssion overturned immediately. This pervert and the whole bunch in that household/family need to go back to where they came.:furious: Better yet, put him in GP in prison and let him suffer like this poor child. We won't have to support him for long before the inmate "take care of him."
In case anybody wonders how I feel about child molestors, read my siggy.

Nancy Grace and her team called the rapist,.....she said he spoke very well and even told her employee to f*** ***! That means 2 things....he damn well understand the English language and he knows how to speak it.

I read a news flash at the bottom of the tv screen earlier today that one the very day that judge dismissed the case an interpretor was already sworn in for the work in this case. Disgraceful. The judge should have researched the matter and done everything possible to make sure what was being done.

I just cant believe this....:banghead: :banghead: :furious: actually i can, thats even worse. I havent seen (might have missed it and apologies if i did) anything about his actual citizenship, could he not be deported back to Liberia? Anyone know what kinda visa he's on?? Why have courts let it drag on for three years, its a farce.

I just think its sick, he has rights but the children he has (or can now he's free) abused, what about their rights to be safe and protected by their legal justice system. Its been three years, the little girl he molested, shes only 10 now, what about her feelings? Her fear? Her family? hence the aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhh! I dont know how to say that in a sentence.

A second child whom Maryland rape suspect Mahamu Kanneh was accused of molesting was 18 months old, according to case documents uncovered Tuesday.
Kanneh was indicted in December 2005 on nine counts of rape, sex abuse and child abuse related to allegations involving Kanneh's two nieces. But 2 1/2 years later — last Tuesday — a judge dismissed his case on the grounds that his rights to a speedy trial had been violated.

On the Nancy Grace transcripts it also says that this guys dad is a pervert and there is also a pervert hanging out a his home but when he comes home from work he goes straight to his room so he doesn't know anything about that pervert that hangs out at his home. Most be pretty cozy with the dad and son both perverts!!!

I hope and pray the appeal goes through and in the mean time the Pros should be taking depos from his teachers in college and any friends that he has that can verify that he speaks english with no problem and understands it too. If he could speak english to the detectives that read him his rights and interviewed him and also to the reporters when the case was dismissed then he can sure as heck understand it at a trial.

I can't remember what news show had this story on,(Dateline?). But, I was outraged when the news crew FOUND an interpreter less than 30 minutes away after one day of looking. The interpreter has been in the us I believe they said 15 years, and was a teacher at a university I think. Now that it's KNOWN there is an interpreter, this piece of SH*T won't get off for the stupid reason he doesn't speak english well.

Well it sounds like there are plenty of people who can interput for this piece of garbage so there is no excuse for not getting on with his rearrest. He doesn't even need anyone to interput for him is what is so maddening. I hope that is also proven through his teachers, etc. Good grief...the guy went to high school and college here. Sounds like that judge didn't have a lick of common sense!

  • #37
I hope he finally gets whats coming to him, so glad he was rearrested before he could hurt another baby.

  • #38
So they just let him out so he could do it again? Why am I not suprised.

From more updated articles they deported his tail back to Liberia.

Just couldn't find if he stood the charges for the horrendous Maryland case.

Unfreakinbelievable!
