The man living in another house knew something was wrong, but four roommates of the suspect know nothing.

Per the linked article ... In the "early hours" of the morning, the neighbour saw and smelled someone burning something in the suspect's back yard. That would be after 6-7 AM, so not that early. According to the neighbour, the debris/ash from that burn pile was then removed.

Four witnesses living in the house were unaware of the suspect carrying or dragging a severely injured or deceased 19 year old girl out of the house, vanishing for an hour or so, then going to the backyard to burn items. After burning, he cleaned up the ash. Then he must have gone to sleep for a long time. Those four roommates noticed nothing in his behaviour during or after the murder that concerned them.

The only exception was the one roommate who I believe whose bedroom was next to the killer's, and heard sounds of someone "not enjoying the sex".

A roommate reports "hearing the defendant having sex" and then "a grunting noise which made it believe that 'someone wasn't enjoying the sex,'" according to court documents.

He told police what he heard after the suspect was arrested, but what he heard, saw and smelled at the time of the murder was withheld until the time of the arrest. Thankfully he was honest about what he heard, but that witness did not mention the burn pile ... unless that was omitted from the arrest documents.

I'm curious whether any of the four witness-roommates have more information about the suspect and how he lured women. Several of the roommates are known to police.

All good. Roommate reported "grunting" at 5 AM, neighbour reported burn pile afterward (that morning).

The house isn't that big, yet no one heard him return home at 3:47 AM with a 19 year old girl, no one heard him at 5 AM taking her out of the house or driving away, no one heard him come home after throwing her body over the bridge, no one noticed the blood in his bedroom, and no one noticed that he was burning something (probably her clothing) in the backyard.

The suspect is in the USA illegally. His vehicle is in his cousin's name, but he is the only person who drives it. I think his cousins prioritized hiding his illegal status in the country over protecting women he victimized in their house.

He was burning evidence in the backyard immediately after the murder, but other people in the house saw nothing, smelled nothing, heard nothing, and know nothing.

Fear of being deported is a great silencer, imo. People with immigration issues are not likely to call 911 and if they have to deal with LE as a witness, I'm guessing they want to keep it at the minimum. I wouldn't be surprised if the witnesses disappear.

JMO but many black women wear wigs for fashion reasons, it’s quite common. Cardi b recently complained of skin irritation from changing her wig too often during her civil trial, for example.

A lot of (black) women wear them for looks/fashion/etc. At her age and as healthy as she looked I doubt she wore them for a medical reason.

IF they had made arrangements to go somewhere why didn't he drive behind her until she found a place to park? WHY was she walking?

I walk around my neighborhood in the wee small hours of the morning, but I have a number of bodegas, drugstores and a diner that are open all night. I plan my route carefully to walk past places that are always open, with the thought of running into one if things get creepy. I can't figure out why she would be out walking in this area at that hour of the morning. MOO perhaps her internet and phone activity will tell the story.

Oh I'm not sure if any of those are actually that close. The 7/11 might be. CVS is a couple blocks down from the Family Dollar and the DD and night club are across the street. I just meant there does seem to be at least some middle of the night activity in the area.

The search for 19-year-old DaCara Thompson galvanized people in the Hyattsville community and beyond.

His cousin who lived in the house even said her husband who most likely had nothing to do with it is now under threat of being deported or detained by ICE. I can see why the family he lived with in that house would turn a blind eye to his crimes until they no longer could not that it’s okay.

Yes. As devastating as it is, I could see someone doing *anything* to avoid ICE and the violence they can bring. Not saying doing nothing was even close to the right thing to do in this situation.
