Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 1-month-old girl in South Baltimore on Wednesday after her parents said she was accidentally scalded in the bathtub, Baltimore police said Thursday.

Elisha Lynn Watson, born on March 29, suffered burns across 80 percent of her body, according to medical personnel who treated her, said Det. Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman.

Monroe says the girl’s father told police the burning had occurred when he was trying to give the baby a bath.

No charges have been filed in the case. Monroe says the investigation is ongoing.

How do you scald a baby, or anything for that matter by accident?

It's been 30 years since my son was an infant, is it normal to bathe a newborn in the tub instead of the sink or baby tub?
Just not buying it...
