ETA, there is a much longer video of the second stop at the second link

That video isn't of the second stop. That is North and Fulton, not Freemont and Mosher. The video they are showing as the second stop is really the video of where they picked up the 2nd prisoner. If they have that wrong, I have to wonder if the other breaking info is true.

They haven't released the video of the secret stop the driver made at North Fremont and Mosher Streets.

The video is definitely at North and Fulton where the 2nd guy was picked up and not the mystery stop.

I know. I guess they just messed up or I assumed the wrong thing.

[h=1]Sheriff: ‘I Was Sick To My Stomach’ After Being Told To Stand Down[/h]
“I was sick to my stomach like everybody else. … This was urban warfare, no question about it. They were coming in absolutely beaten down. The [city officers] got out of their vehicles, thanked us profusely for being there, apologized to us for having to be there. They said we could have handled this, we were very capable of handling this, but we were told to stand down, repeatedly told to stand down,” he said. “I had never heard that order come from anyone — we went right out to our posts as soon as we got there, so I never heard the mayor say that. But repeatedly these guys, and there were many high-ranking officials from the Baltimore City Police Department … and these guys told me they were essentially neutered from the start.

Baltimore's police commissioner Batts was previously the police chief of Oakland CA and dealt with riots in 2010.

A 2011 article after he had just resigned from his position with Oakland.

So when the protesters we were working [with] said, “OK, it’s getting ugly now, we’re going to depart,” they departed and we issued orders and directions, but we still didn’t move in. We allowed the protesters to start breaking into Foot Locker. They broke into Foot Locker and different places. But we had to do that because we didn’t want to look like this was a police action, where we were responding too soon. Then we had a very coordinated plan. It took us time to just kind of corral them, bring them in, and take them to jail. We didn’t have any complaints whatsoever, and the citizens said we did a good job.

It sounds like he may have been the one to come up with the plan to "stand down" then he sold it to the mayor. He said in an interview that he thought it went well. And he didn't have any loss of life. But they lost much more than someone breaking into a foot locker. And I am not sure that some of the citizens would feel that they didn't lose much.

Shock Trauma is THE BEST TRAUMA CENTER IN THE WORLD. R. Adams Cowley was ex military doc who came up with the idea of the golden hour. (Means the first hour after injury is the most important). He changed medicine. Now it is headed by Dr. Scalea who is also amazing. He still makes rounds and the first time he came to see my loved one I was like do you know who that was? He said, "one of the professors?" He is very unassuming but you can tell he knows what is what. I think the first time I encountered him, he introduced himself as Tom. I can't say enough good about Shock Trauma. Sorry to go so far off topic but I will say I am certain that Freddie Gray got amazing care. The night my loved one was flown there to TRU (Trauma Resc. Unit) there were several patients who were shot and under police guard and the doctors and nurses treated them as they would anyone. As I said in a previous post the TRU unit is not very private (has to be so the team can attend to everyone) and I was very impressed and continue to be as we return to various parts of the hospital for long term follow up care.

If I go by Jayne Miller's timeline and the fatal injury happened within 14 minutes, it either happened when they shackled him or at the mystery stop.

8:42 a.m. —*Police call for a van and refuse Gray’s request for an inhaler. Minutes later they are videotaped dragging him to the van, which will take him to the West District police station at 1034 N. Mount St.

I have great respect for Jayne Miller. She vets her stories and doesn't do a lot of speculation. My personal feeling is that at the least the officers did not call for medical help when Freddie requested it. I know cops might see a lot of "fake" asthma attacks etc, but they are cops not medical professionals so they should have called for medics. Beyond that I don't know what happened. That incident needs to be investigated but burning, looting and making people afraid to go into the city which is a great place is just not the way to handle it. It has been over 20 years since I lived in the city but I still enjoy going there and we don't need this.

I've seen dozens, if not hundreds, of videos of arrests much worse than that. Many, many suspects holler, scream, yell "you're hurting me", go limp, drag their legs and feet, etc. It's part of the theatrics of arrest, IMO.

Yup. If Gray had been screaming at the van driver and making the guy stop I can see the officer thinking "I know we didn't do anything to injury him, he was running around just fine a few minutes ago, he is making this up".

I realize there is lots yet to be know, but as of today, I'm thinking along the lines of one cop crossed the line, others may be guilty of omission.

STCWON (subject to change w/o notice)

my understanding is that there were 6 cops - including the van driver. the 5 cops did not accompany the van driver. the 5 of the 6 gave statements. the van driver did not give a statement . . . hence the 5 cops were not aware of what happened once the van took off. l/e investigation traced the van route & gathered all surveillance footage from the route the driver took and they discovered the stop.

of course, i could be totally off base.

Protocol says if asked for medical help you call for it. I know they get a lot of "fakers" but they are law enforcement not medical professionals. Call for medics. If they are faking then it will look bad for them in court.

But we don't know what Gray said in the van, do we? He could have just been acting "out of it" which is probably fairly common with some prisoners (drugs, alcohol, whatever).

I don't know what to think. I hope the reports give clarity. Will it tell us when this happened? Will it tell us how it happened? I do worry about the backlash if answers are not transparent. When I view the video of FG being dragged into the van it appears to me he has some injuries or was totally out of it.

IMO the backlash will come no matter what the report says.

The BCFD has said he requested help

I think they know something happened between putting the shackles on FG and when the van requested a unit to meet him so they could check on FG at the 3rd stop. Investigators following their route and looking for any cctv cams is what lead to the new evidence. I think major attention is being focused on the van driver. Since everyone gave a statement except one LEO, I think he was driving alone and it was probably a 'rough ride'. jmo

To add ...if he was limp when put in the van then medic call should have went out. I am a huge supporter of law enforcement and firefighters/paramedics ...i have many i know in Bmore who are getting rocks thrown at them but this is a bigger issue. To much speculation before reports.
