That would be very interesting.

Right.....if my home was burnt to the ground or my business destroyed or if I called 911 because I was being assaulted (& no one answered).....I'd be civilly suing whoever told LE to "stand down"! In this case, it has been widely reported to be the Mayor. I'd be suing her & would retain a big-name attorney pro-bono (& that's a give-in due to the media attention).
Law-abiding, tax paying citizens have the right to expect reasonable protective services to be rendered for their health, safety & well-being. Reasonable responses.

Geraldo: They [LE] are vigorous & with great energy tonite

And what about the officer injuries from close contact with irate arrestees while attempting to seatbelt in close quarters?

Imo, anyone in the US that bit or spit on an officer while the officer was putting a seatbelt on them would know they would end up like FG. So maybe it would happen once in thousands and thousands of arrests, leaving plenty of money available to pay for the officers injuries, leave time and/or any other compensation LE would be entitled to claim.

Nope.....happens all the time here in the States. It is a serious bio-hazard.

The van does not take one or two prisoners in at a time. They drive around until they have several to bring in together.

Seems like an added reason to belt people in, imo.

grammar alert :shame: as I plan on typing from my heart and head in my post:

I'd like to read the stats and information regarding the death of a LEO while attempting to serve and protect, *how many injuries sustained by a LEO attempting to serve and protect*, how many times a LEO has indeed rendered assistance, how many times a LEO has saved a life, how many times a LEO has testified in court to ensure a criminal has been prosecuted. I'd like to see stats regarding the salaries of a LEO in comparison to movie "stars", sports "stars" and the like.
*not counting Ferguson, Baltimore and other cities during the riots*

Since this case has been made into a race case by a bunch of hostile, disingenuous and agenda driven people, I feel that what I've written is fair. Additionally, I don't believe that what I've written thus far is rhetoric because I plan on doing some research.

I would like to read the stats and information regarding the suicide of a LEO. The last time I've checked the stats were very high. Far too high.

I'd also like to see what the reaction would be if my siggy line stated: "Irish Lives Matter", "Jewish Lives Matter", "Italian Lives Matter" etc...

It alarms and disturbs me that this case has indeed been made into a race case; especially since it has been reported that the most serious charges are against an AA man.

If or when all of the evidence is presented in a court of law; I'll decide what I think happened regardless what verdict/s a jury has rendered.

I've been a member of Websleuths for a while. I rarely post because I tend avoid conflict.

I'm concerned about expressing how I feel, not because of this site or it's members; but because I am sick to death reading and hearing about the many people that are scrambling, conceding, back peddling and jumping through hoops in order to appear to be "politically correct". I have come to detest the term "politically correct".

I refuse to post anything other than how I feel while following the TOS on this site.

I've put my concerns and trepidation mentioned above aside; because I feel strongly about what I am attempting to convey in my post.

I feel very sorry that Freddie died.

I feel very sorry for his family and friends as well. The pain of losing a family member is immense; perhaps even immensurable and very difficult to overcome.
This family is suffering and for that I am so very sorry.

During the MB discussion, I posted a few times about personal responsibility. I feel that personal responsibility also applies to this case, in a manner that would be considered "politically incorrect" to some.

Agree with Geraldo: these look like professional agitators, more like the OWS type, they defied the curfew and were arrested, not locals

CNN guy really mad because LE made him move. Told the officer I would rather be over there and officer replied I would rather be home.

I am sad that a sworn officer of the court is having her integrity questioned.

FG was a victim here. Yes, he may have been a criminal in the past or on that day but once he was handcuffed and shackled the officers had a duty to protect his health and safety. Are we not a victim friendly site? FG was not saint but he died handcuffed/shackled on the floor of a police van.

In Ferguson, the police stood down on the first nights. Similar, no?

We may not like that the officers have been charged but why do people need to see the prosecutor as against LE. In Ferguson, many questioned the prosecutor but the general tone was that it was his call to go to the Grand Jury. She makes a call and every move she makes is seen as done based on her leanings toward the youth of Baltimore.

I don't think anyone is questioning that FG was/is a victim.

For me, the more I'm reading and learning about Mosby, the more I feel this is an activist case for her. She began the press conference by speaking well of LE as a whole, and stated at one point that the actions of these 6 officers are not reflective of the whole department, yet her words and actions appear to contrast that sentiment. IMO.

Ms. Mosby’s turn in the spotlight comes after just four months on the job. She was elected in November, ousting the incumbent, Gregg L. Bernstein, after campaigning aggressively on a vow to prosecute police misconduct.

To me, this illustrates the mind set that police misconduct is widespread, otherwise why would she need to campaign against something that isn't a systematic issue?

There are also pics of her with her husband marching in the protests which most say go beyond this case and are really about police brutality and oppression.

Even among peaceful protestors the sentiment is very anti-police, and given her participation one can only assume that's how she feels.

All MOOOOO

A beaufifully written post! As a minority I have , more than once personally experinced LE way out of bounds, as a result of those experinces, I am on the other side of the fence - am thrilled to, finally, see folks that abuse their power experice the other side. IMO, only the driver will get jail time, but it sends a message - this abuse needs to stop- peroid.

I have lived it.

Loved your post however!!

This article explains the issues that most likely caused the policy to be put in place. It may not be law but if one does not follow policy in the work place you run the risk of being fired and depending on the job being held legally accountable. In my workplace, I have policies that I must follow in order to ensure the businesses liability and safety. I don't think that a policy that comes from previous lawsuits and has been written/distributed is open to interpretation.

But as mentioned, not following a department policy is very different from breaking the law.

the mind set that police misconduct is widespread

it is widespread

this is only the tip of the iceberg - and society is slowly seeing first hand how widesperead, blatent, and frequent it is occuring. Since Ferguson, about every 72 hours, a new video comes out showing such.
