That's what statistics are good for in getting to the root of Baltimore communities problems as far as determining who is more of a threat to law-abiding citizens in let's say Mr. Gray's neighborhood, LE related or criminal enterprise/criminal related homicides, and gangs/criminal enterprises are as diverse as the country so race isn't an issue, but gang related crimes are an issue in Baltimore. Allocating resources and time in proportion to issues is very efficient and likely more productive in resolving some community safety issues.

For example, according to the protests today: "Members of Crips, Bloods and Black Guerrilla Family gangs, who came together to help restore order after Monday's violence, appeared together on stage on Saturday to vow unity and said they would defend the black community." (http://news.yahoo.com/six-baltimore-officers-charged-death-gray-one-murder-004330690.html)

Now, I think it's likely that gang death brutality/homicides outweigh LE brutality/homicides in 2015 (there is a useful link showing 2015 homicides in last thread (http://data.baltimoresun.com/bing-maps/homicides/). This is what seems to delegitimize the protests for me...if peaceful protestors on the one hand are protesting LE brutality/homicides yet protests with criminal enterprises that commit more brutality/homicide in the neighborhood. Do you see the irony and hypocrisy in this? Someone please help me understand why criminal enterprises whose sole purpose is to exploit people through illegal drug trafficking, prostitution, human trafficking etc for monetary profit and murders etc would be welcome at a rally against brutality when gangs likely account for more murders than LE in that particular neighborhood. Jmo/ Why not protest both forms of brutality, what am I missing CoolJ?

You aren't really missing anything. I agree with most of what you said. The problem is we are speaking of different issues. Police brutality is one issue. Black on black violence is another issue. Gang violence is another issue. Drug culture is another.
Yes there should be folks protesting about those other issues. No question about it. And there are activists for those issues but they don't really get heard. MSM doesn't care. MSM has an agenda or at least is spreading the message of someone else's agenda.

My question is who's agenda? I think we need to find the answer to that question to get to the true root source of the above listed issues and more. Somebody wants America divided. JMO

Hi Silly!

The heroin angle took off when Hannity had a really angry, disguised police office (ironically looking as if he was in a hoodie - hey sorry just an observation). He is the one that stated that heroin and weed were in his system- I wont watch Fox - but the video was posted here - nice to see you!!!

HI my Bravo! How are ya? Nice numbers!!

Great and thanks for asking CARIIS. Always good to see ya ma dear. Yes I have always been disappointed hearing of underpaid LE and Firefighters etc.

OT but the worst thing happened. While trying to remove a very old dish network dish off of my house so we can paint, the DH managed to cut all the way through my FIOS cables as well and I am without tv until Monday morning. They're moaning about no GOT tomorrow night and I am without any news channels. So TY for the link.

Given how Baltimore behaved without the curfew vs how it has been with a curfew, it would seem wise to keep one in place on a Saturday night.

I fail to see how protestors should be allowed to continue to disrupt a community; I don't see how that is going to help anyone.

Sadly its all about money- those that have it--- get it- those that dont--- dont

And therein lies the rub-- many times those that "don't" have a lot of money, believe they are "entitled" to have the same things that other people who go to school for years and WORK hard for. Rather than figuring out how to improve their own lot in life, they TAKE from those who have more, or destroy things to "protest" their poverty, or resort to quick schemes like illegal drug dealing to make money.

In THIS country, every person that wants a chance to succeed has a CHANCE to go to school, work hard, abide by the law, and work to continuously improve their life. They are ENTITLED to TRY. Every single young person in this country has a good career in the military services, if they want to get out of the hood and work to improve themselves. There ARE options-- as long as they avoid crime.

Entitlement mentality begins when cultural mores, values, and morality disappear, and selfish adolescent narcissism sets in. When there is no effective parenting of offspring that are not planned for or cherished. "I want, therefore I take"-- no matter who they hurt in the process.

Most anyone will give a hand up to people they perceive to be TRYING to improve their lives in a legal and decent, law abiding manner. Most people object to giving hand OUTS to people who continually make excuses for why they can't TRY, and then engage in criminal activity. Being a criminal is a full time job for many, that if they put that much effort into getting an education and a job, would improve their situation faster and more permanently.

Extreme inner city poverty is a metastatic cancer. The only way, IMO, that anyone can escape it who is born into that situation, is to muster up the courage to LEAVE and start over in a safer place with more opportunities. Many do just that, and we seldom hear about their successes. The ones that remain simply continue the cycle over and over, driving the neighborhoods deeper and deeper into crime.

We can't "fix" the problems of the poverty and crime-ridden inner cities, IMO. It isn't possible. It isn't about creating jobs, or spending more per pupil, or one more government hand out, or one more charitable program. No one can help someone who doesn't want to TRY to help themselves. All we can hope to do is apply external control to the crime, to hold things in check, and prevent the chaos from invading. And try to identify the ones who CAN be helped, and help them get out. IMO.

It most definitely is NOT all about money alone, the haves and the have nots. Look at all the "strike it rich" sports figures who devolve into the same patterns of crime and corruption, shortly after they become multimillionaires. It's all about personal attitude, motivation, and ambition. It's about valuing hard work to get ahead, rather than taking from others. IMO.
