Kind of jumping in here...not really in response to any specific post.

How many of you have seen The Wire - HBO series?

From what I am reading here, most of you haven't. Since there are so many questions about why this certain area feels the way they do. Why should they feel this way if black people have held the highest positions for so long.

The Wire received major accolades in how real/accurate it was. It showed the corruption of the police department and politicians. It showed the real issue of those on the streets.

Probably too much to ask that y'all sit down and watch it - it was 5 seasons/13 episodes each. But if you are any way interested, or looking for a great program to watch...I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! Best show I have probably ever seen.

Love it. Can't wait for season 2.

And if someone died in my care, no one here or pundits on tv would be talking about a rush to judgment when I was charged. In fact most here would spend time sleuthing me instead of trying to make excuses for my alleged crime. jmo

I totally agree with you that if I was a police officer in Baltimore I would be packing up and moving somewhere far away from Baltimore and NYC.

Me too. Especially if I were guilty of homicide or negligent manslaughter.

I will never understand blind faith in LE, especially when they have shown themselves to have unscrupulous members among their numbers.

These cops are charged with very serious crimes and while they have not been convicted, Freddy Gray is STILL THE VICTIM, here. Not the cops.

Gee there sure are a lot of people here that are certain that Freddie had a switchblade. None of whom can provide a photo of that knife or it's make and model.

The Baltimore SA has that information, nobody here does.

Doesn't have to be a true switchblade according to Baltimore Code 59-22. No, we have not seen it but we HAVE seen LE's description. If you read the law it describes more than just switchblades.

Do you have a link supporting that accusation?

I need a link to support the 'accusation' that the States Attorney knew the legal statute that she arrested 2 officers for ?:waitasec:

There's a difference between the MD and Baltimore's code on the knife legality. Mosby quoted MD's, but Baltimore's says "any spring assisted" knife is illegal iirc.

Baltimore Sun yesterday:

"While Mosby said Friday that the officers had made an illegal arrest because a knife Gray was carrying was not a "switchblade," a violation of state law, the police task force studied the knife and determined it was "spring-assisted," which does violate a Baltimore code"

no different/same situation between nystate & nycity - as this article says:

In much of the country, especially in urban areas, knives are still viewed as weapons in need of tight control.

So the 2 officers look at a local drug dealer, who is out on bail for a recent drug arrest, and he takes off running. They chase him, catch him, frisk him, and find that he has a weapon, which violates the city code. And you say they are corrupt for arresting him?

How So?

Just because someone 'dies' in someones care , it does not mean they are guilty of a crime.

And not all of the 6 officers were in charge of FG when he died.

But yet somehow Freddie Gray was severely injured in that van.

It's a mystery alright. Part of the time FG was prone with his head toward the driver's cab in that very narrow well between the seat and the partition. Then toward the end Ofc. Porter arrived and put FG upright on the seat again. Ofc. White arrived and "talked to his head" without getting a response, according to Mosby. Very, very strange.

Every day prosecutors falsely charge innocent people, get them arrested, fired, and ruin their lives?

How do you know these cops are innocent? From your posts it is obvious you are very pro-cop, but I cannot understand why you ignore evidence that Freddy Gray was not treated legally or humanely. And he is the victim. And he is DEAD.

So do I. And so does the SA. And FG is the VICTIM here and the posts lauding the heroic police are frankly, inappropriate.

We get it. Some of you will always think the cops are right. But it doesn't belong in Freddy's thread.

I have no idea if the van driver or the officers that 'checked' on him are guilty or innocent. That remains to be seen.

I am not sure what happened. But I do know that FG was arrested dozens of times and always arrived safely. So what was different this time? I doubt that he was buckled in each time previously either. So I am looking for what happened this time to end in his death.

When I see him 'being dragged' to the van, I do not assume he was injured. I have seen many, many protesters 'Go Limp' just like that when being arrested. It is a tactic used to hamper the cops. It does not mean they are injured or unable to walk. The same with the shouting and screaming. If the cops called an ambulance every time a suspect screamed, we would need a hundred more EMTS.

I will admit that I am pro-LE. My son is a LEO and I am VERY PROUD of him. I bet that you have no idea of what he and his co-workers go through every day. His wife is urging him to switch careers because she is expecting their first baby and it is too stressful these days.

Right. Let's see if they are all found guilty in his death. I have my doubts.:denied:

The officers are innocent until proven guilty. That does not make Mr. Gray any less of a victim, it is just how the law works. Since the officers were charged in Mr. Gray's death, looking at the evidence and discussing it does belong here.

Seems it's en vogue in certain circles to assume the worst of LE and ask questions later. Trickles down from the top.

Someone who is under my complete control (think a child) dies in my care who with a crushed larynx, 3 broken cervical vertebrae and a severed spine I can guarantee no one here would defend me.
