MD MD - JASON THOMAS SCOTT, suspected mother/daughter SK

I don't think the weapon from the murders was sold. They may have found it ( or them) in the searches made later. LE was interested in him for guns he stole and sold, plus he had a machine gun. They only tied him to the murders later. I doubt he was stupid enough to sell a gun from the murders.

I don't know. What better way to distance yourself from a murder weapon than to sell it to someone else on the black market?

I was kind of wondering about his record as well. He was arrested in 2001 as an 18 year old for burglary and auto theft, and then went until 2009 with no other charges. My first impression was that he had left Maryland. I guess maybe its possible he was still in Maryland but was never charged with anything. If you search Pritchard Lane and Largo you will get a laundry list of thefts and burlglarys over the years. Also most of the streets around his had a great deal of thefts in the reports.

I wonder how the itch to begin killing came about. If you read the article about his 2001 arrest you will see he had 3 accomplices, in one instance they robbed the house, and then stole the car and returned it later to the same neighborhood. Sounds familiar.

I've been snooping around on social networking sites & it does look to me like he was gone for awhile (to where I have no idea) and returned to Maryland in '09. I can't link it until we have MSM confirmation of his name though so until then, this will have to be classified as rumour & speculation. :innocent:

The cases are being listed as he is tied to them through evidence. My best guess is that they are waiting for the Grand Jury to indictment on the murders and then he will be tried based on the entire list of crimes. I also have to wonder if since some charges are Federal, that he could be tried in Federal court, (death penalty?).

Here is a link to the March 14 case. The scary thing I have found is that some of these home invasions involved 2, 3, 4 suspects and they are only talking about 1 of them.

Hopefully a few of them may be in custody, one guy was arrested with JTS in the gun deal, i'm hoping none of them are still on the loose.

I wonder if he was a federal witness in exchange for the other charges not being tried. If so that could be why he was missing for a time.

New Timeline:

* June of 2008, there was mysterious shooting death of a woman in her Bowie home.

*October of 2008, a violent home invasion in Accokeek.

* January 26th, 2009, the murders of Karen and Karissa Lofton in Largo, Maryland.

* March 14th, Dolores and Ebony Dewitt were found dead in a burning car.

* March 16th, another Largo home invasion terrorizes a victim who was unhurt.

* May 2009, a gun store burglary in Woodbine Maryland. It ended in June, when the suspect tried to sell two of the stolen guns to an ATF informant and was arrested.

The suspect was released on a $42,000 bond after his June arrest. He stayed free until September when he was charged in the home invasions cases and held on nearly one million dollar bail.

Maybe because the case is still in Grand Jury...
It will come out soon enough and then I hope LE can tie him to every murder he commited.

Jason Thomas Scott indicted for Prince George's County muders

"A 27-year-old Largo man was indicted Tuesday in connection with the slayings of a mother and her 20-year-old daughter whose bodies were found in a burning car in Prince George's County last year, authorities said.

Police said Jason Thomas Scott is a "serial killer" with no clear connection to Delores Dewitt, 42, and her daughter, Ebony, whose bodies were found March 16, 2009, in a burning car in Largo that had been stolen that day."

Officials: "Serial Killer" indicted

"Before officially naming and indicting Scott, police and law enforcement sources described him as a “brilliant” serial killer who read books and Internet articles about evidence collection so he could learn to clean up his crime scenes. In at least one case, the sources said, Scott even used bleach.
The sources said Scott also intentionally changed his methods throw off investigators, and he duped an FBI profiler into concluding the mother-daughter murders were unrelated.
Scott, who graduated with at least a bachelor’s degree in information systems management from the University of Maryland University College, worked for nine years at UPS before severing from the company last August, around the time federal authorities charged him in connection with the investigation of a burglary at a gun shop in Woodbine, Md. That investigation is what led to the raid on Scott’s house in July, according to authorities and court records.
Law enforcement sources said Scott used his access to a computer database at UPS to track his victims. Scott is also suspected of having burglarized and invaded several homes in Prince George’s County before and after the mother-daughter slayings."

Great timeline starting with:
December 23-25, 2007: A home in the 1700 block of Albert Drive in Mitchellville is burglarized. Jason Thomas Scott is charged after police say they connected him to the crime through a stolen handgun.

Spring 2008 he gets his degree... after that, there is crime after crime.

also a sexual assault (probably many more)
June 13, 2009: Scott allegedly invades a home in the 1800 block of Folk Drive in Fort Washington. He forces one woman in the house to strip and put a pillowcase over her head, and he sexually assaults her and takes pictures, according to police charging documents.

A coworker says he was really quiet, kept to himself and was a really fast typist. Of course everyone is shocked that he is a killer.

LE is tracking him back for the last 10 years, thinking he may have big crimes starting as a teen.

From the above article:

A neighbor, who declined to give his name but said he has known Scott's family for 25 years, described Scott as someone who could "find some way to make you like him."

A 22-year-old neighbor, who said she has known Scott her entire life and played basketball at her house with him as a teenager, described Scott as a "normal guy" with a "mean attitude."

In addition, ABC 7 News has learned that police in Florida, Texas and the District of Columbia are also looking for connections to unsolved murders.

Scott grew up and lived in a Largo home with his mother and sister. He was known as a neighborhood nuisance, a thief, and a "Peeping Tom."

Sources describe Scott's mannerisms as effeminate and say detectives believe the 27-year-old man harbored deep-seated anger toward women--and confusion about his own sexual identity.

A mother and a sister. Well that would make sense, would it not? Considering his alleged victims appear to be a woman and her daughter.
