MD MD - JASON THOMAS SCOTT, suspected mother/daughter SK

  • #81
The 27 year old man who is described as a "person of interest" in the cases that became known as the "Mother/Daughter Murders" in Largo lived with his parents in the same home he grew up in until his arrest on unrelated federal gun charges in July of 2009.

He was a part-time employee at UPS in Landover Hills and may have had access to customer records, sources say.

The "person of interest" was arrested in a stolen-gun purchasing sting set up by the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms in July of 2009. ( He was arrested in the UPS parking lot where he worked).

Wait... am I hearing this right from WJLA: they found all of this stuff A YEAR AGO?

"After months of investigating, police say the big break in the case came when federal agents raided the person-of-interest's home last July in connection with a gun store robbery. There, they found evidence that made him a suspect in the two mother-daughter murders." Yes, a year ago...

"He is expected to be indicted for the DeWitt murders within the next two weeks, sources say."

so if they had the evidence for a year and they are now giving it to the grand jury and they still want to keep his name under wraps :banghead:

It make me question what they really got and I don't understand what the big deal if this is really the pert...why don't they want to name him has POI.

It like they are throwing clues out here for the public to find out the name.
Like some game. :banghead:

If it's before the grand jury, but the grand jury hasn't released the indictment yet, everybody is bound by (sometimes strange and illogical) confidentiality rules as to what they can talk about.

Wow. I found his Maryland criminal records, but I can't find him in the Maryland Department of Corrections at all. No past articles or news stories - other than what's already been posted here. It's like they're intentionally hiding him until they're ready to spill it!

This is a bad guy - even without the murders.

Sorry I'm just talking to myself here! The Maryland criminal records I found only dated back to 2009. I am very much looking forward to learning where else he's been.

I was kind of wondering about his record as well. He was arrested in 2001 as an 18 year old for burglary and auto theft, and then went until 2009 with no other charges. My first impression was that he had left Maryland. I guess maybe its possible he was still in Maryland but was never charged with anything. If you search Pritchard Lane and Largo you will get a laundry list of thefts and burlglarys over the years. Also most of the streets around his had a great deal of thefts in the reports.

I wonder how the itch to begin killing came about. If you read the article about his 2001 arrest you will see he had 3 accomplices, in one instance they robbed the house, and then stole the car and returned it later to the same neighborhood. Sounds familiar.

Ah - I didn't see the 2001 charge.

I guess between 2001 and 2009 - he was working on those masters degrees....

I'll believe that when I see proof!

It was there that investigators were able to make the link between the man and the murders when they found among other things evidence that the bodies of Delores and Ebony DeWitt were stored and set ablaze here before their remains turned up in a torched stolen car. ATF Baltimore Field Division Special Agent in Charge David McCain wouldn't discuss the link in an interview Thursday, but said his agents and Prince George's County police did good work.

They said he only has a BA from University of Maryland. One article said he has worked for UPS from 2001-2009.

I'm sure he will be checked out for any home invasion/muder/fires that are still unsolved.

Would you happen to have a link to that info? I'm just going off of this:

He holds two master's degrees and was so good that he duped an FBI profiler into concluding that the killings were unrelated, the sources said. And long after he is brought to trial, Prince George's Police Chief Roberto L. Hylton predicted, he will be remembered as "one of America's most infamous killers."

So, it would seem there are others who are involved. Besides the dude who was indicted with him on the weapons charges?

Sounds to me like someone flipped. You know what they say - "There is no honor among thieves."
