But in the end, Norwood, who went to high school in Washington state and college in Long Island, N.Y., couldn’t keep her story going, police said. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/2011/03/18/ABd2rJs_story.html

There is a BN who is the right age and fits this description, but I can't find it confirmed anywhere yet that they are the same person. The picture from the college athletic site looks very dissimilar to me, but it is also at least ten years old. There are more BNs in the U.S. than you would expect -- more than 20 on facebook.

I wonder if she was stealing from the store and Jayna was going to report her?

I was thinking the same thing, she was having financial woes and I bet Jayna confronted her.

FWIW, I just can't see that BN would kill Jayna over money (unless really unstable or there are other issues going on) - I don't see it logically, but me thinks there's something to do with jealously rather than something tangible. Hey, people have killed for next to nothing, though. =P

Just caught this case, and spent the last half hour tracking Jayna's online life. I'm half girlgeek myself and it piqued my interest that she was a Digger, blogger, etc. She seemed very intelligent and full of life. Definitely cried a little bit. So...sad. No other word for it.

I couldn't find much on BN. I'm not sure if it's because she was secretive, or if she just isn't easy to track because she wasn't that involved with the internet. It doesn't seem like anyone else (reporters, internet users) has had much luck either. It's...kind of weird. In most cases, people who haven't turned a computer on once are easier to glean information about than this girl seems to be. This is going to be interesting, to say the least.

She does seem to be wearing athletic clothing in the video. I'm not familiar with the company myself. Do they wear their stuff to work as uniform? I'm wondering where she was arrested.

ETA:
The Stony Brook athletic profile cited in articles previously posted is now 404ed. Interesting... Comparing that photo to the one taken from her facebook page, I'd say it was the same girl.

She is most definitely wearing Lulu in the arrest photo. The curve that goes acros the top of her chest is part of their signature sewing. <- not a lulu wearer but two sisters who are. Every piece of lulu clothing they own has that design, be it tshirt or sweater or jacket.

This is very interesting. On Saturday, a woman being released from Montgomery County Correctional Facility said she spent the night in jail with Norwood who "looked wild but I see someone who was scared."

The woman, who was picked up Friday night on alcohol related charges and wished to remain anonymous said Norwood would not say much.

"I asked her what she was in here for and she said she didn't want to talk about it," said the woman, who was released around 1pm Saturday. "She also said she didn't think she was getting out anytime soon."

I wonder if the screaming between 2 women heard by the Apple employees was before or after closing? Norwood supposedly called her to come back to the store because she left something behind. Just wondering how far the premeditation goes back. I don't think this was something spontaneous, but who knows if she came to her decision in a few hours or few weeks. It's not like it was that well thought out. Also, I found it interesting that her car was spattered in blood. Was Jayna attacked in her car and forced into the store? Did she actually make it out of the parking lot? Maybe it's just the wording...I usually associate "spatter" with a blow, as opposed to drippings from an attacker.

Sadly, people kill each other over money day in and day out. I am guessing she might have come back to the store after it was closed hoping to steal some merchandise, and Jayna confronted her.

"A confrontation between Norwood and 30-year-old Jayna Murray over the stolen merchandise may have led to Murray's death, State Attorney John McCarthy said."

bolded by me.

This also could be a lie, since Jayna's not around to verify it. I wonder if there actually is a call from Brittany to Jayna in the phone records that evening-- this would be the call asking Jayna to return to the store so Brittany could get what she supposedly left behind. If there is no call then it would prove she made this story up. Not that it matters too much. Poor Jayna is dead and the cops have their perp.

I believe one of the articles stated that initially the killer claimed she had never been in Jayna's car. Then after questioning by police she changed her story to say she HAD been in the car, and in fact the make-believe thugs had forced her to go out and move the car and then return to the store by herself in the midst of the crime.

This woman really wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. I do believe theft is a likely motive, apparently she had been sued not long ago by a landlord for unpaid rent as well.

Regarding not finding anything about her online, since she apparently had a Facebook page under her real name she was probably not a big internet user. I have used the internet heavily for 15 years and a search for my real name would reveal virtually nothing, some of us just like to keep the two worlds separate except amongst those we know and trust.

Just wanted to say I'm sorry I was off! I know you guys don't mind...I just thought there had to be more to it than stealing/merchandise with so much rage (listening to how Jayna was murdered on JVM).

This is absolutely irrelevant to Jayna being killed, but it's bugging me: WHY move her car? Anyone have a guess?

I don't know and don't understand that part either. I am glad she did though. It kind of sealed her fate according to the investigators.

All I can think is the car was in a 10 min parking space or something. IDK
I guess that wouldn't matter though. I just don't get it.

Maybe because someone might come looking for Jayna (friend or someone she was supposed to meet) and if they saw her car they would investigate the scene? Maybe Jayna had friends in the nearby shops that would check on the store if they saw her car in the lot or take notice that it was there after hours when the killer hoped to conceil the body or stage the scene?

The woman was an idiot so it is hard to guess what crazy idea crossed her mind. Maybe she just got freaked out and panicked because the car was visible and signaled Jayna was there. I mean why claim they were both raped? Why claim she had never been in the car? That made no sense either.

More info.
"McCarthy offered new details about what happened before Murray died, saying she had been asked by a store manager to check Norwood's bag for stolen merchandise. Murray called the manager that night to say she believed Norwood had been stealing."

:thud:
Were these ladies on the same level, like...supervisory-wise? Is it normal for a manager to ask someone to do that? I wouldn't be remotely comfortable checking my co-worker's bag and would refuse if I wasn't in a supervisory role already...was Murray the assistant manager? Was this already mentioned? :waitasec: Gotta go read back.
