There are videos of white men doing that exact thing and they are not dead

1. Who said she was mentally ill? I'm not saying she was or was not, IDK. Any ref beyond allegedly ingesting lead paint? An actual diagnosis? Anyone see MSM quote & attribution?
2. Any stmt that LEOs at scene knew she was mentally ill, if in fact, she had been diagnosed? Link?
3. "Anticipating" & being "prepared for this kind of confrontation" Who anticipates & prepares for a 'confrontation' like this w LE? Someone who ignores traffic tix? Someone who plans to refuse to open door to LE? A driver who tells her son to bite LEO making traffic stop? Someone who buys a shotgun and points it at LEOs? And who says 'If you don't leave, I'll kill you'? Maybe her anticipating a confrontation like that led to the confrontation like that?
What would have happened if she had answered the door, shown her hands, accepted the warrant(?) and said, 'Okay, I'll call someone to take care of kiddos, and I'll go to the station w you.' What would her chances of being shot & killed have been? Will anyone hazard a guess?
4. Does working at "a mental facility" mean the cousin is a "mental health professional"? If true, seems he would have specified his credentials but maybe not. If Ms Gaines mother (RN psych nurse) already been contacted by LEOs during 6-7 hr. standoff, she had already been given opportunity to give input/feedback to/address to daughter & to LEOs at scene. What could any family- mental health professionals coming to hosp do for Ms Gaines that med professionals there could not?
Maybe I missed some info or need to reread.

^ 1. 2.3. "...Certain talking points return throughout the evening...if she was indeed, "mentally ill" as they say, isn't that further evidence they shouldn't have shot her?; ....
that Gaines anticipated and was prepared for this kind of confrontation and that it speaks to a long history of black armed struggle."
4. "...Michael Mason, another cousin of Gaines, says that when he showed up at the scene he was stopped by police and "asked...about the movement" and searched. He works at "a mental facility" and adds that Gaines' mother, Rhonda Dormeus, "is a registered nurse, a psych nurse at that...so you have two mental health professionals in the building that also have personal relationships but you didn't tap into that.""

There is no one to blame but this woman, period. It is very obvious to me she didn't care one iota about the safety of her child since SHE put him in this hostile environment. Instead of being a caring mother she was a mother threatening to shoot at police officers with a shotgun. Her son wouldn't have been in this violent situation if it hadn't been for his violent mother. She very easily could have complied with the warrant being served but like so many today she thought the rule of law didn't apply to her. I am appalled to see any parent teaching their child to bite our officers. All she has done is warp his mind and most likely he too will become another statistic when he refuses to follow the rule of law.
The only legacy she has left is teaching her child to become aggressive/violent instead of teaching him something worthwhile, like being respectful to those who are in authority. There are already way too many hostile aggressive children being taught this hostility by their parents and its not only seen when they interact with police officers but now they are brutally beating their teachers or the elderly or defenseless homeless people with some murdering them.
When our children were little they were taught then to respect police officers, teachers or the elderly and when they came of age to drive we told them to always respectful if they were stopped by the police and to always do what they asked them to do even if it was in a roadblock where everyone was being stopped. Surely all parents have had the same conversation with their children and if not, they certainly should because the vast majority of police shootings happened when the person refused to comply to simple commands.
She could have easily ended this peacefully. She is the sole one who provoked all of this. If she had truly cared about her son's safety she wouldn't have pulled a shotgun out to begin with in front of him nor would she have threatened officers who were only doing their jobs. That is the sole reason she is dead and no one is to blame but this woman.
Her child wouldn't have even been in the situation to be shot accidently by one of the officers if his mom hadn't acted like such an hostile violent a**. I imagine this little boy has already seen many things that were criminal acts in his short life, and may have seen his mother act violently many times before this. Its sad that the very thing she taught him may be the very thing that gets him killed one day.
So she became pregnant and dropped out of college because...lead paint. Had a heroin dealer for a boyfriend because hey, lead paint...in short all of the bad decisions in her life are because of lead paint...including obtaining a firearm that ultimately got her killed...
I never ever had conversations with my children about police. I grew up with Andy Griffith, In school, the policeman was your friend. We had sixth graders as crossing guards supervised by our favorite friendly police officer. No one I knew was a criminal so there was no reason to ever have police contact. I have had three speeding tickets in my life in different cities. Never did I think about anything except digging in my purse trying to figure out what compartment I had my proof of insurance in. Digging while the officer comes to the car and probably still digging when he is there at the window,
Never would I have guessed those actions could get me killed by my friend, the policeman.

And in those days, friendly Andy Griffith, NEVER EVER thought that you were digging for anything but your paperwork. So he just stood by and waited. However, a few horrible incidents have changed all of that, once drivers began suddenly pulling weapons from their glove boxes or their waistbands, and blowing cops heads off.
Drivers have been pulling weapons out of glove boxes since the automobile was invented. Have you ever heard of John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Bonnie and Clyde, etc. It’s the police that have changed, and became militarized. Never in history has it been safer to be a cop.
Were you doing that digging with a gun attached to your person in some fashion? Because that would be a key factor as to how today's Andy Griffith acts towards you...
At what point does society excuse criminality due to lead poisoning?
You mean all of great non criminals during prohibition? In those days, there were very few people that were violent criminals. That is why Baby Face and Dillinger were so famous. But the rise in street gangs has made everyone potentially dangerous because there are so many violent gangs in urban settings now.
And the reason it is 'safer' to be a cop these days is because of the intense defensive training tactics they now use, in response to the killings that had surged decades ago. So now they walk slowly up from behind the driver, keep on hand on their weapon, and are in 'high alert' as they approach the driver---every driver.
