MD - Officer Suspended After Videos Surfaces Showing Him Berating Kids, Baltimore

This cop was WAY outline and completely over the top. Mom filed a complaint... hmmm ... possible law suit??

One thing that did bother me about this kid is his comment that they skateboard there all the time but leave when they are told. We have a problem at a shopping center by me - clearly marked NO SKATEBOARDING. But they are always there until the cops drive thru. And the don't have respect for the people walking around trying to shop. I actually go out of my way not to go there anymore. Ever since the day I saw one the kids run right into a guy shopping - the kid fell broke his arm and the kids parents tried to sue the guy. Since I was on the original police report I had to use a day of my vacation time to go to court and testify it was the kid who was at fault.

Now does this excuse the cop - ABSOLUTELY NOT, but it does make you wonder how long it has been building to this point. Is this cop out there every day chasing the same kids away and just reached his boiling point? Not an excuse for his behavior but does make you realize how frustrated he could be.

They should have "texturized" the cement. Would have made it safer for people to walk in the rain and make a skateboarder's teeth rattle.

It appears to me that Officer Chunky Butt was picked on as a child and he now has the power to pick back on lil kids. He's as bad as a telephone tough guy.

On a more serious note. I'm happy to see that the "real men & women in blue" disapprove of Rivieri's over-the-top behavior.

They really need to make this officer drive around in a volkswagon bug that is painted with colorful flowers. (i sure there's one in an impound lot somewhere that'd another dept would be willing to donate). Then we can see if this officer still keeps his job having to drive around in a VW flower painted bug. If he quits, he certainly never was meant to be a cop. He's got an anger problem, needs anger management (if it will even work for him) put him on desk duty. I agree with what someone else had said that he'll make the boy dislike police. He's abusing the priveledge of wearing a uniform. He should be working with people in a civilized understanding manner, so that there will be less people that dislike cops, and will turn to them when they need help, instead of not. Maybe the young boy really didn't have a father.. in any case, there's no excuse for the behavior of this officer. They really should make him drive something that would embarrass him, to take away a bit of his ego problem.

I just watched the full video, thank you for the link, Shadow. I really don't see that the boys were showing any disrespect towards the officer, you could see it in the boy's body posture and here it in his voice. A lot of children nowadays use the words "dude" and "man" and they don't mean it in disrespect at all. Thank God they got this on tape, i really hope the mother has a lawsuit. You can tell just from the speak the officer gave these boys, that he's an egotistical maniac. He even points to his badge at one point. This man is a disgrace to all the good folk in uniform. They need to fire him. He seems like one who has taken the job for the power it gives him, instead of to really help people.
