Here's what bugs me lately. The peaceful protests from a few days ago got little to no coverage, but the violence got ALL the headlines.
The media is only showing us the violence, why? I feel it's deeper than just "violence gets attention". I think the media is choosing what America gets to see happening, creating an image of POC that isn't truth. JMHO.
Yep.
On one hand, the media shines a light. It's not good to let things happen without scrutiny and attention.
On the other hand, I think the media does play a big role in perception. Good photographers/videographers will select images that have impact, but ones that aren't necessarily giving an accurate picture.
I'd rather have media there than not be there....but I think there is a feeding frenzy that is very ugly and adds to the problem rather than simply documents it.
