GUILTY MD - Rachel Morin, 37, left for walk on Ma & Pa Trail 6pm, car found at Williams St entrance, Bel Air, 5 Aug 2023 #3 *Arrest*

After he is sentenced, I hope he is extradited to California to stand trial for what he did to the little girl there. Found guilty and sentenced again. Then sent back to Maryland to serve out his life sentence for what he did to Rachel.

I hope he is not sent back to El Salvador to stand trial for the murder there. Who knows what may happen as far as being incarcerated if he were to stand trial there.

I’ve just been catching up - I’m shocked at how quickly the jury reached their decision! Is that some sort of record?

So happy that Rachel will finally get justice my thoughts go out to her family.

I do wish this case would stop being used like a political football.

Morin described in detail the murder of her daughter, a 37-year-old mother of five, as she was exercising on a hiking trail outside of Baltimore.

Victor Martinez-Hernandez, 24, was convicted of the attack on Monday.

"This person took my daughter so violently and so gruesomely and so graphically that they sealed the pictures because I don't want my granddaughters to see these pictures," said Morin.

I didn’t realize deportation was a possibility. But Google says this true, an illegal person can be deported after receiving a life sentence.

So how would this work? He serves the life sentence in El Salvador instead? Would they first try him for the murder he committed there? Does ES have the death penalty? If yes, I’m a fan of deportation in this case.

I do not believe he would get a second trial in El Salvador. It doesn't make sense that El Salvador can change the sentence imposed in the US. However, since he came from El Salvador, maybe some of their laws would apply in this case. I'm not sure they would even send him there, since that only seems to be for gang members right now. I do not think this guy was a gang member, but I am not sure.

When he was arrested last year, law enforcement announced that he has ties to gangs. He is also wanted for the murder of a woman in El Salvador.

I wish we knew the details of the murder of the woman in El Salvador. My guess it was the same style. Sneak attack, murder, then rape. She was dead when he was raping her is what I got from the trial. I recall reading about the gangs in El Salvador... If a man chooses you as his girlfriend, then you must submit or he will kill you.

This case truly a sad one for me. Anyone should be able to be out on a trail running or walking freely (anywhere) w/o any threat of an evil monster. This was such an emotional case for me (chills) as I posted I cant even imagine what Rachel’s family was going through. I won’t ever forget beautiful Rachel Morin who should still be alive and with her family. She had every right to be on the trails that day. Her kids are who I think about. Growing up w/o their mom will be difficult. I wish for all the best and happiness for them. jmo

Not a fan, but I give him this. moo

The mother of Rachel Morin, the Maryland woman who was fatally attacked on a popular hiking trail in a Baltimore suburb in 2023, was invited to the White House, a day after a Salvadoran man was found guilty in the case that became a flashpoint during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Rachel Morin's mother, Patty Morin, was invited as a "special guest" at an April 16 White House briefing. She shared details about her daughter and how she was attacked, noting that the hiking trail had been a "safe place" for their family.

his dna was suppose to be collected when arrested... but they failed. thus, it's entirely likely that his dna could have been quickly matched to the s/a case in california before he murdered rachel. what an injustice. rachel's mother has demonstrated more grace and courage than i can even imagine.

undocumented immigrant who was arrested and expelled at least three times, according to an ICE official.

Federal law enforcement agencies must collect DNA samples from certain detained noncitizens and people who are arrested, facing criminal charges, or convicted of crimes. The FBI sends DNA test kits to such agencies upon request.

Thanks, yes I was talking about the murder he committed in El Salvador prior to coming to the US - then committing the assault in Los Angeles and Rachel's brutal murder.

Send him to CECOT!!

i haven't looked back at the thread regarding the brutal savopoulos and veralicia figuero murders. but, i remember posts discussing their killer's previous arrests in the us which should have caused him to lose his green card status and to be sent back to his home country of guyana before he murdered the savopoulos family and ms figuero.

i feel the same about any 'homegrown' rapist and/or killer in the us. innocent victims have only one life that can be brutally taken while a rapist/killer is repeatedly allowed to commit their crimes over and over.

how many innocent lives does it take to say... end it now.
