One of the more curious side stories in this case is that bond (for $2.5 million) was posted by the Bishop's boyfriend, a defrocked priest.

Ohhh, forgot to mention in the thread title: this was a drunk driving situation. She blew 3 times the legal level, even after some time had elapsed. And she was texting her boyfriend (yes, the defrocked priest) while driving.

Judge sentences ex-bishop who killed cyclist while driving drunk

BALTIMORE -- An Episcopal bishop who killed a bicyclist in Baltimore while driving drunk has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Heather Cook, a bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter, drunken driving and leaving the scene.
