Yep, that trooper is taking a beating over not contacting the vehicle owner or itemizing the contents in the car. To be fair, it sounds like the policy is not specifically followed in every instance. I would imagine unless the circumstances are suspicious, towing is just a routine occurrence.

But in this instance, not following the protocol is problematic. I'm still not clear why no one missed her for two days? Did she work, where were her kids? I understand it wasn't until she didn't show up for Thanksgiving dinner that the alarm bells went off?
She didn't show up for her shifts at work on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to her sister. I have asked but of course don't expect any answers here from anyone, if what she was wearing that morning was her work attire. I also wondered if she was picking up something before work- maybe her daughter's birthday gift, something for Thanksgiving and was heading back to either go home or work when her car either broke down or she thought she was running out of gas.

Her daughter stayed both Tuesday and Wednesday nights at a friends house, according to an article that interviewed Anneliese's parents.

The only reason I can come up with that no one realized she was missing was maybe with Thanksgiving that week, some were baking pies and doing prep work for the dinner. Shopping, too. Many of us get distracted during the holidays because there's so much to do.

Her son lives with his father, about a 1/4 mile away from where Anneliese and her daughter lives. They have shared custody of the son.

What I did find odd was in one of yesterday's articles, the parents said that arrangements were being made for her children's living arrangements. The son already lives with the father.

Low enough that it would have shut off on the highway and not restarted?
I'm going to guess that it's possible. Having said that, I'm probably the last person who should comment on anything car-related. MOO

Far fetched, but the car having a little bit of gas and her stuff being in it could imply that she made it back to the car with a little bit of gas in a tank, put her stuff in the car, and then something happened.
Not a suggestion as much as a possibility, and as always, moo.

@carbuff and I exchanged possibilities yesterday that could have happened to her vehicle. It could have stalled out and not started. Something to do with the lines retaining moisture on cold days. It's happened to me, and I couldn't start my vehicle to save my life. Later that afternoon, hubby got it to start right up. Next morning, it wouldn't start again. So, it may or may not have been a gas issue?

Oh wow. That would make sense.

I don’t think it’s particularly far fetched, the whole situation is.
I think this would be my second theory, behind suicide :(

I looked for cameras in the area, only one near Falmouth is SB-295.
Cameras | MaineDOT

Do we have a map showing the vicinity her car was found which would show any nearby off/on ramps?

I would assume she’d have been seen at a gas station if that were the case. IMO
Nothing like that has been reported, as far as I know.

Good thinking and definitely possible. Something we hadn’t thought of before!

So the vehicle was low on gas, ok that makes sense, she could have grabbed cash and left her purse. The car had an external entry keypad, that potentially explains leaving the keys in the car. But wouldn't you want to take your cell phone for safety?
This is something I think a lot of us have a problem with. Leaving the phone makes no sense and IMO the only reasons for it would be if she was forced to or if she knew she wasn’t coming back.

From what I understand. The reason why they waited until thanksgiving to report her missing is because they pinged the phone and it said she was in South Portland. They assumed she was there with the phone and her car. They were posting missing signs up before then, but didn’t want to report her since they thought she had the car and the phone. When they finally found out the car was towed, way to late due to error, and that the phone was in it, that’s when they reported it. Imo

Wait a minute!

Are you saying that the family knew she was missing BEFORE Thanksgiving, unlike what the grandparents implied in the newspaper?

To which Anneliese may not have been home on Monday night, making those FB posts?

Her family was already putting up signs before Thanksgiving?

WHO pinged her phone before Thursday?

Wow..........

Oh and welcome to WS. By the way, are you a friend or family member?

It just dawned on me that the person the witness saw walking away from the car, may not have been Anneliese ... Going out on a limb and sort of far-fetched, but could this be someone dumping her car?

Thanks for pulling those up. I wish Willow would come back and get verified, though she may not know much more.
I tried to be verified, emailed necessary info and haven’t heard anything.

Absolutely a possibility in my opinion.

This is what I have wondered myself. Especially since they've been searching for her body and so far, haven't found any evidence of her in the water.

The last post on her facebook page is @ 2:41 AM on the 26th, she changed her profile pic. Roughly four hours later, a witness reports seeing the car and someone walking away from it. So did she pull an all-nighter? I can't remember what we know about facebook post times, is it influenced by my time-zone?

My thought is to suspect self-harm, but want to keep an open mind in case someone wants it to "appear" that way.

Good question. I haven't been able to decipher Facebook timestamps yet as far as time zones. But I wonder if it's possible that the 2:41AM timestamp for the profile picture update could actually be reflecting a default Pacific time zone (3 hours behind Eastern time). If that were the case, and the picture update was made at 5:41AM Eastern (rather than 2:41AM Eastern), that would be a significant difference in time. MOO
