I am sure each parent has their own story. As of right now we are just hearing from the moms side. babies get all sort of bruises, on butts, backs, arms, legs. They fall alot and bump into everything.

But it begs the question, why are we hearing only from the mom's side? What about the people who had custody of her, why aren't they out there begging for Ayla to be returned?

Maybe they are and I have missed it.

That is a very good question. I would like to see the dad talk.

Grandfather says that people don't understand that the girl wasn't with them, she was with her father. He wants his granddaughter home. He thanks everybody that is involved with the search. He's scared, he wants her home, he wants answers. If he (the father?) had something to do with it, somebody please say something. The poor helpless little girl is out there and he can't do anything but try and support his family. He wants to go to dad's house and ask him what happened to his granddaughter but he knows what will happen. The reporter supplies the answer: you'll get arrested.

Any videos on the dad?

I will like to see dad and his family or friends say something but really I just want Alya found. And that might be more of their focus, not saying the mom is doing anything wrong. But again, never been in their shoes, and I have no idea how I would be in this horrible situation.

I did not understand this first sentence he said. We are all aware who Ayla was with. SO are people hounding him down and asking him... So stange.

Oh no. This poor man. I lost it and couldn't finish watching the video. If anyone has the time or desire to transcribe or summarize, I would be grateful.

Here you go:

Q: People are pointing fingers at the family..
A: Exactly, I mean, no no no no, see, what you don't understand is, my granddaughter wasn't with us. She was with her father, and has been. Where is my granddaughter? I'll keep saying it until I get closure. Where is my granddaughter? I want her home! Do people not understand that? I want her home and I thank everybody that is out there right now. The state police, the FBI, everybody that is involved, I thank them from the bottom of my heart. This whole thing is just tearing me up..I just..I want her home. I want answers. I want something...just..And if he did have something to do with it, god dammit, say something, come forth and say something, somebody say something out there, somebody knows something about my granddaughter. Okay. The poor helpless little thing right now, she is out there somewhere. She's scared. And I can't do nothing. All I can do is support my family, support my daughter..this whole thing is tearing me up..

Just let me, I'll go to his house. I'll knock on his door. I'll ask him face to face if it comes down to it, where's my granddaughter? But I know what will happen if I go there..I know exactly what will happen.

Q: You'll get arrested.

A: Exactly.

ETA: ack, too slow! Donjeta already summarized. lol. :)

new interview w/ mother's father, Ayla's grandfather

Can you imagine the pain of your grandchild missing, and the accusations flying with the baby's mom, and here you where prepairing for Christmas Im sure just a few days ago. Heartbreaking. I feel for them.

Im going to say what I feel. Even though there is apparently a lot of bad feelings, court papers filed, between the parents I dont feel that the parents are involved. Now who was there that night before for the party? That's the question I have.

I havent seen them. You are correct, but then LE may have told them not to at this point.

Of course if they told me that I would not listen because it is very important IMO to get Ayla's info out there, get the parents (both) in the media begging for someone to return her. Then again maybe there is more then we have been feed thus far through the media and maybe they already know of a person of interest.

I just cant understand why they are leaving the mom in the dark.

Many, many thanks to Donjeta & AskforNina for the transcriptions!

I think that there was supposed to be an update at 5...did anyone catch it? I am following Carolyn Callahan now, but nothing so far...

Hi All...First time to post. I have actually been lurking on Websleuths for several years but have never posted. But after reading that yet another little one is missing I just can not stay quiet any longer. This so breaks my heart especially so close to Christmas. Praying that she is alive and fine.

With so many children disappearing in the middle of the night or walking out the door do parents no longer buy the plastic things to put on door knobs for child safety that even a grown adult can have problems opening the door. We had them so that our daughters couldn't open the doors. They come in a pack of 2 or 3 for barely anything at any store.

Sorry for my out burst on this very simple act of prevention. Just tired of all these poor babies being taken.
I posted about these doo-dads on the Jason Burton thread as well:

Amazon.com: Mommy's Helper Door Knob Safety Cover: Baby

Yes, they are hard on arthritic hands (as is the baby gate that stands between Grandmomma and the bathroom!!!), but I think they are well worth the extra effort.

Relatives say #AylaReynolds was put in father's custody when her mother was being treated for substance abuse.

Earlier reports indicate that the mother's own mother said that DHS took Ayla and gave custody to Ayla's father. Yet Ayla's mother continues to imply that she "let" Ayla go live with the father. That one huge "twist of truth" makes me take each and every thing that comes out of the mother's mouth with a huge dose of NaCl.

Search for Ayla Reynolds in Waterville, Maine continues with no sight of toddler
--snipped---
“She remains missing,” McCausland said. “The search is being concentrated on the Messalonskee Stream.”

A Maine Warden Service plane flew over the stream today to search the area, he said.

McCausland said the stream is “rapid flowing” and “very close to the house.”

There are 75 investigators working on the toddler’s disappearance, which has been classified as a missing persons case, McCausland said.

Police also seized two cars connected to Reynolds’ father and planned to process them for possibile forensic evidence, the Portland Press Herald reported on its website.
