It took the better part of two years for authorities to realize Celeste Doghmi was missing since mid-2021. Originally from Germany and estranged from much of her family and friends who all live out of state, it took a request to police for contact in May 2023 to raise any suspicion.

Maine Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in July that state police are assisting Auburn police in the investigation. More recently, Moss said Auburn police were still leading the case.

Initial inquiries by the Sun Journal into the woman’s disappearance led to more questions than answers, including why her boyfriend at the time didn’t report her missing, the reasons behind why she became estranged from her family and friends, and what ultimately happened to the then-27-year-old mother who lived in Auburn for two years and whose baby was taken into state custody in April 2023.

Good, long investigative article by the Sun Journal at the link with a lot of detail. They talked to the police and interviewed several of her friends and family members, including her mother. Her bf is incarcerated, and the department of corrections wouldn't allow them to interview him.

There is a video posted in April 2020 from Frankfurt. Of course we do not know is she took the video. If so, this would mean that she was in Germany during the Covid19 outbreak in 2020.

According to news articles, her family that does not live in the US, is looking for her and she was last seen in Auburn in 2021. The article also mentions she was estranged from her family.

Her full name is Celeste Diana Doghmi. If you google it you find additional information concerning her past life in FL.
The Sun article mentioned in thread#5 is the only piece of Media complete information on Celeste.
Unfortunately her disappearance was only noticed 2 yrs after by LE.
Her child that remained with the father when she disappeared, was taken in State custody after her disappearance as her BF was arrested. All details in articles posted in the thread.

IMO she unfortunately met with foul play. I really feel for this family that remains without news. This case is not known enough.

Celeste Diana Doghmi – The Charley Project

Details of Disappearance​

Doghmi's ex-boyfriend, John Alexander Benton, said he last saw her leaving their apartment in the 80 block of Academy Street in Auburn, Maine sometime in June 2021. A photo of Benton is posted with this case summary.

Their baby son was about six months old by the time she went missing. Doghmi is described as a dedicated mother, but she told people that Benton was physically abusive to her. When she was giving birth at the hospital she told the doctors and nurses that Benton had abused her throughout her pregnancy.

A friend had a video chat with her on July 6, and Doghmi had signs of having been assaulted recently, including a bald patch on her scalp. The friend said he would buy her a plane ticket to Florida and Doghmi agreed to go, but during the call Benton came in, shouted and cursed at her, grabbed the phone and hung up. Doghmi's friend tried to call back numerous times but never got an answer, and this is the last time he heard from her.

The last activity on her social media account was on August 2, 2021. She has never been heard from again.

Benton did not report Doghmi's disappearance, and because she was estranged from most of her family and all her friends lived out of state, neither did anyone else. She was not listed as a missing person until April 2023, when Benton was arrested for domestic violence against another girlfriend and lost custody of his and Doghmi's son. A case worker from the Maine Office of Child and Family Services described the child's home environment as "a war zone". Authorities tried to find Doghmi at this time, but were unable to locate her.

Doghmi was born in Frankfurt, Germany and moved to the United States at the age of two. She lived in Florida as an adult before moving to Maine to be with Benton. Her case remains unsolved.
