Found Safe ME - Jill Sidebotham, 28, Nicholas Hansen, 38, Lydia Hansen, 2, Camping in Phillips area, overdue from trip, Sanford, 3 July 2022

She left voluntarily according to her mother, who tried to talk her out of going. However what has happened since then is anybody"s guess.
Jill’s mom warned her daughter not to go on the camping, according to a family Facebook post.

Ron Sidebotham told the Boston Globe: “My wife said she tried to stop her but [Jill] said it would be fine.”

*These words have bothered me very much since the get-go…
“it would/will be fine” these words are a trigger for me as they were the exact words Mama would always tell us kids when Daddy would drag her into a room and shut the door. We would be so scared and crying trying to make him stop hurting her. She knew if we kept screaming, it would only make it worse for her and ultimately for us. He would just get angrier and angrier the more we cried. Perhaps, Jill was trying to prevent an argument that what’s his face might interfere in and escalate into something nobody benefited from. Or not. Idk, anyways, I have bad vibes from this case.

I'm very curious about how this camping trip came about. Did he threaten her in some way to coerce her into going? She thought she could control the situation, going along to get along, so she told her mom, "it'll be fine"?

It's been too long. If they did go camping, and there is nothing to be suspicious about, this is still an awfully long time to be camping or off grid entirely.

I think the whole thing is suspicious given his history, but MOO.

ETA: Not ruling out some kind of car accident, but that's low on my list.

Agreed. Even if they went on a trip, she doesn't seem like the type who would be completely out of contact with her family and children.

Gabby's mother Nichole Schmidt Tweeted:

I took down the tweet because I did it wrong. Nichole Schmidt tweeted about Jill Sidebothom.

Holding that baby while in the store, looks like a control-type tactic to me. Holding the baby COULD ensure the mom doesn’t try to flee or say anything. JMO of course.

Someone familiar with the area said there were many homeless. Maybe there are homeless camps that should be looked into. Has it been said if they were outdoorsy people? Does Hansen go camping regularly or spend a good amount of time in the woods?

I’m not sure which area this refers to. I don’t think the Mexico area has many homeless/camps really. And the other areas are so remote so same. Sanford possibly does. Drugs, yes. Both areas.

I think it was Sanford.

Why in the world would she willingly go off camping with the ex and only take her younger child and leave her older one with a relative? This is bizarro.
Thankfully she left her oldest!

That's what I was thinking! Who goes camping for 3 weeks, presumably in a tent? With a 2 year old? Even in the best of circumstances? Not me!
LE must be worried if they're using a plane.

I agree, I'm just questioning her leaving one child and taking the other. I have a lot of questions, which I am sure we all do, including leaving her fiance too.

I wonder if they oldest just want home or if he just wasn't interested, like what was said above. He wasn't his. Bothers me just to type that kind of ownership.

If this is an abusive relationship (and it sounds like it was), that could explain a lot of questions. That is a dark underworld only some people know.
