NAPLES, Maine — Maine State Police officials are asking the public for help Saturday in the effort to find a missing 67-year-old man from Naples.

Police said Mark Conley’s family is very concerned for his well-being after he did not show up to a Christmas gathering.

Conley was last seen on Christmas Eve, December 24, in the Lewiston area.

Conley lives in Naples and drives a Silver 2016 Jeep Patriot with a Maine license plate 5823XK.

Oh man this doesn't sound good. Poor guy. But there's always hope!

I read this bit in another article:

"A police officer was driving by and noticed damage to a guard rail, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss. He circled back to take a closer look and saw a submerged vehicle".

I'm so glad the officer noticed that and then actually went back there and found the Jeep instead of continuing on his way.

The article also mentions that they found his license plate on the embankment. I would think there was some real force needed to detach the license plate - I wonder if he was in a roll over and flew out the window?

I just keep thinking of the Cassandra "Casey" Johnston (Pennsylvania) thread back in August. They found her crashed car, but not her. Finally they found her body a half mile away - she had been ejected through her car's sunroof upon impact. IF Mr. Conley was also ejected I feel that he might have been thrown further than they expect.

Oh good grief!!! I would never have though it possible!!

Agree that wider search areas are a must.

Not a happy ending. But an ending, at least. His family have an answer as to what happened, so I hope that is some comfort to them. RIP Mark.
