Ugh-sorry Fairy...I have a very small jaw and had to have two pulled. They had erupted, but I would bite the back of my mouth because they did not fit-they never bothered me otherwise and I was still talking when the dentist took them out! Anyone who knows me will not be surprised by this, ha, ha. Now, of course, I want to see her dental xrays to see if the teeth had crowned and how long the roots were to see if that would help determine her age....sigh. With each piece of information you get in this case, the LESS you know for sure lol...

I'am 27 and I still have my wisdom teeth, so everyone is different i guess. She looks to be about 20-23 to me. The condition of her artires (sp) suprised me, she looked to be very thin, and if she was as young as they thought, why would her heart be in that state?? IMO she is NOT a teenager. I think she was a young woman.

Now it struck me differently, in that heart disease, hypertension etc starts young, young. I knew a 5 year old with elevated cholesterol and it was not dietary in nature.

I don't find any definitive age to her face except that the odd color of her hair washes her out.

Her hair does have a grayish tint at the roots. VERY WEIRD!!! I don't know, i just don't think she is as young as they think. Looks can be very decieving, when i have no makeup on I look 15 and I'am 27. This case is so frustrating, she could/should have been given an id way back in 99, IMO.

I would agree 100% with this, except, the forensic athropologist aged her based on her bone growth. I just don't know what to think....:confused::confused:

And... they also saw her up close. All we've had are photos.

Here is some of the stuff I found out about wisdom teeth: They start growing from the jawbone around age 9. They have to grow roots and crown, which is a long slow process. Many people have jaws that are too small for the teeth to grow correctly so they become "impacted" which equals "unerupted" on the dentistry website I was reading from. They can be non symptomatic when they are impacted, or symptomatic depending on the direction of growth... http://www.cmsllc.com/topwis.html

Some people never have them grow in at all, so they can never impact.

I'm one of those (weird) people...

So, now I'm curious, believe. Can they tell the difference between someone who's never had their wisdom teeth grow in at all and someone that has had their wisdom teeth removed? :waitasec:

I would think that could be useful info for future cases...

Hmmm. I thought "impacted" meant they were not growing in properly and, therefore, causing pain. I remember the pain all too well! But I am curious to know what this means in relation to MJD's age.

I could be wrong, but i thought the man who stopped to help her, said she looked to be in her thirties????

Yes Shaine did say he thought she was older Probably because of all the make up she had on. However they believe she was something like 13-17. Kelly Lipsey brought other under-age girls to AZ for prostitution around the same time this happened. He was arrested and charged but they dropped the charges later on.

I totally agree with you. I just saw her hospital pic, and to me she looks older than 13-14. To me she looks in her 20's!

I've looked at MJD's picture several times, and for undefined reasons, I'm convinced she was older than the estimated age. She looks to be at LEAST 19. I also rule her out as being a transient, because her teeth were in perfect condition according to what I've read posted here.

FWIW, what leads me to believe that MJD is in fact within the 13-15 age range is RA's comment from the LE report stating MJD had applied to be a dancer at a gentlemans club and was unable to due to her age. In 1998 the age to work in a gentlemans club was 18.

of course in addition to the ME info.......

I'm pretty inclined to believe she was in the 13-17 age range. Not only because of what Cubby stated here about the strip club, but also because the anthropologist and ME seem pretty darn sure that she was no older than 18, heck.. not even older than 16. And because their specialists, I tend to agree, although it is an estimate. People can look younger than their actual age, as that has been mentioned several times but people can also look a lot older than their actual age. Make-up can dramatically change how old a person looks, too. And we've only seen photos of her in either a critical state or in death. Besides, hospital.. and definitely trauma patients always look especially "rough". But let me tell you, I hope she is older.. and I hope I can be proved wrong just to open new possibilites for MJD.
