Interesting Update. That makes me wonder if it could be the heads of a missing couple. Perhaps Richard Petrone and Danielle Imbo: PA - PA - Richard Petrone, 35 & Danielle Imbo, 34, Philadelphia, 19 Feb 2005 - #2

Or Edward and Stephanie Hunsburger: PA - PA - Ed, 30, & Stephanie Hunsberger, 24, King of Prussia, 25 Feb 1978

I think OP is right about it being a couple where-as ones male and ones female

I asked the ME for more info on these remains and this was their response.

I located these files and see that the are listed as “decades old, possibly 30-40 years”. We do have DNA samples on these remains and no positive matches at this time.

Ramapo College IGG Center will partner with the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to identify Scarborough Jane and John Doe. The remains of these two individuals were found during excavation of a property in Maine in 2008. One skull recovered belonged to a female, and the other to a male. It is unknown whether their deaths are related
